I've moved to purchasing music only on Bandcamp, where I get the option of downloading every purchase in the format of my choice (and offers artists an 85/15 profit split!). And, after one adverse incident, I am very diligent ab

This prompted a thought: did Blizzard take the action they did because China threatened to withdraw its players from the Overwatch League? That would kill entire teams in that esport, and be much more visible than merely losing ordinary pla

I don't know about podcasting, but for music, streaming royalties are so abysmal that I can't feel guilt about blocking ads on those services. If I want to support an artist, I'll buy their music on Bandcamp, where I know the

Should I have prefaced my own definition with "imo"? I believe that there is a common semantic core that could be encapsulated in a new element. The closest thing to a presentational demand I would include is that they be temporar

Toasts have common semantics: they are responses to user behavior, they are ephemeral, and they take precedence over the underlying content. Marquees have no semantics beyond "more text than fits in this space".

I think a robust charging network is a third dependency. You need to have a garage, or commute to someplace with or near a charger. Down here in San Diego (East County), I don't see a lot of the latter.

I am a monolingual English player, and I suspect you're referencing events that culminate in the player receiving a ruined shield. If so, I will say that while the character was nearly forgettable as of your very first encounters, they

I've got a few years of community college calculus under my belt, but the cost of university and the unstructured nature of MOOCs had both deterred me from advancing along those lines. Wikipedia's math pages typically pre-suppose

At the risk of sounding glib, your presence on this site would seem to imply that you've not, in fact, stopped reading the news.

I would love sorted summary lists of their relevant statistics: active time, total time, cost/calorie, etc. Finding fast (=easy) meals is critical for me.

I'm not sure how much you can or would push to restore functionality via this added layer, but even this is a great boon. For both this, and your recently deceased, thank you.

Thank you for voicing this question. I think there's an excess of celebration for one wet year, when the long-term damages of drought are far from healed.

At least at the pop-science level, his ideas connect a lot of dots. He'd neatly resolve the weirdness and mystery of black holes, their jets, their information paradox, and dark energy. It feels good. Whether or not any of it makes a l

The last I was aware, the frequencies used by cell towers simply don't have any mechanism by which they'd do much of anything of biological interest. Am I wrong on that count?

I know Google's scary, but having task management/scheduling built into and up-front in their Inbox is wonderful. When I saw that, I ditched the old gmail interface and haven't looked back.
