We also have a "mentions-of-gitlab" channel in our chat that will alert us of any mentions of GitLab on any major place in the internet.

Periodic meetings mean the end to remote work. Avoid them whenever possible. I try to be proactive about cancelling the periodic meetings that we do have, whenever there's nothing to talk about. Traditional meeting strategies also work

We do a few things to alleviate this, I'm not sure if they are enough for scale: 1. Daily call with everyone where we talk about our private lives for the most part (30m call, 28m private life talk: everyone has to tell something they

I strongly agree about requiring self-reliant people. I actually wrote about this shortly after posting this on medium [0], but the TL;DR is that you (as manager) should make it extremely clear what is expected of everyone and that people s

In our case, we make sure that single source of truth is either a GitLab issue, for anything related to implementation or the handbook on our website for organisational matters [0]. [0]: https://about.gitlab.com/handbook

Just to clarify, our pricing [0] is per year. So the cost for 50 users is $1950 a year, $162,50 a month for Enterprise Edition starter. We have been thinking about a model that would allow us a more smooth ramp from CE to EE, hence the chan

The timing is coincidental, at least from my side. We keep track of all mentions of GitLab on sources such as HN, but also Google+. There I was pointed to this comment [0]. This triggered me to look into the existing issue again [1] and ree

Glad to hear! It depends a bit on what you want, but have a look in the documentation for details I couldn't give you by heart [0]. [0]: https://docs.gitlab.com/ee/pages/administration.html#setting...

We're working hard on making the UI and UX of GitLab better. A good start is this meta-issue [0], but there are many others. We realise we have some ways to go, but this is a major priority for us and 2017 will bring improvements every

Nice to see this posted. Happy to answer any questions. Of note: we require every single new team member, independent of position, to make at least one or two merge requests towards the handbook. This way everyone knows how to contribute to

I can't comment on the monthly cost. You should be able to run everything on a single server, but I suspect that if everything is under load, that would need to be a decent server. You can use our Docker registry on GitLab.com for free

We release all of GitLabs components at the same time, guaranteeing that they work together. Every month on the 22nd. Updating GitLab is no more work than 'apt-get install'.
