How come mdadm needs lvm? Do you mean device mapper?

mdadm is just fine. YMMV depending on the distro you are using and your knowledge/know-how about storage. I recommend to try it out with loop devices, play around and build your own opinion about it.

It makes me sad the tech industry is going to this direction. This post basically describes very accurately my last month.

I have the same tedious discussion every time a new box is replaced. It goes in the lines of "no, changing a box will not make your application behave differently, fix your dawn thing".

They are using tradicional RPM for packaging. The cargo.toml workspaces relates more to make IMHO.

And people were doing that even before aws existed Edit: you can do that with iptables

UNIX is very simple, it just needs a genius to understand its simplicity. And it is 2020, I guess nowadays everybody understand how unix-like system works and how simple they are.

So that will be 50-100x more expensive than Hetzner?

Those are the most expensive computers I ever saw: https://aws.amazon.com/ec2/dedicated-hosts/pricing/

Yes, and this is sad. I have seen this as the outcome of a bubble which keeps repeating that "having to maintain is bad", "servers are bad" or "this is old".

The title seems a bit off since shell expansions and arguments has nothing to do with the find command. Both features are also often covered in entry level material for introduction to shell.

That is amazing! I hope to see more posts like that. Maybe more people will notice how simple things are outside of the aws realm. Unfortunately more you use, harder to leave aws.

There are places in the world where internet is not accessible, maybe for you it's a commodity but for some people is easy to burn a CD and send it to those who needs it.
