PG missed a couple of points in this essay. First, the proliferation of PODS and self-strorage businesses (at least in my part of the country) is further evidence that people have too much stuff. In my neighborhood, folks with two car garag

Geezus, the guy is entitled to an opinion about a technology that he has used to deploy a website. You must really care because you bothered to post some dickish response.

I'm wondering if this reply is a joke because none of those areas are still in their infancy, especially parallel processing and speech processing. If you really meant to say that their potential hasn't been realized, then is it possible th

It's great how each generation re-discovers the wisdom of Franklin. Unfortunately, it's sad how they fail to follow it.

Jessica captured great material and didn't get in the way doing it. Each chapter was clearly focused on the target story, not Jessica's agenda. She did a great job facilitating the QA. This makes the book useful and enjoyable, and n

This book and "The Art of Worldly Wisdom" by Baltasar Gracian (http://www.sacred-texts.com/eso/aww/) are my two favorite books I've read repeatedly for over 20 years. It sounds very cheesy, but they are both like a road map for my l

Have you discovered an upper bound? The commonly held belief is that people over X (where 30 < X 35?) can't start startups because they have kids and a mortgage, or they just aren't in-tune with what's hip. Curiously, that excludes peop

Couldn't you have taken a sabbatical? I mean, did you just totally walk away from it? I took a sabbatical for a year from a PhD in CS to pursue some medical science ideas, then went back when they didn't go far enough to make a living on. N

I don't know if it's the best, but it's the only one I use. It's simple interface is what I find most useful about it. If I need more (which is rare), I use the GIMP.
