It looks like this is just in a beta version of iOS. I’ll worry if/when ios gets released like this.

Sure... but there are degrees of closeness to HTML and the closer to HTML it is, the less translation you have to do and the easier it is to deal with. That is, the closer to HTML the better. Plain javascript is a crappy way to represent HT

You're just pointing out that svelte isn't 100% the same as HTML... That is true... but of course, if you wanted 100% HTML, you aren't looking for a framework at all. The approach in svelte is that you write the HTML parts of

That's not the same because the abstraction a mature computer language provides is nearly complete (not totally complete, of course, but the situations where you ought to go digging through machine code or lower are pretty rare). Outsi

I'm not a big fan of HTML itself, but I do think svelte is right to focus on it for specifying UI. That's because HTML is the native language for describing UI in the browser. No matter what you use to specify UI, you have to und

On its own it sounds like hand-wavy marketing bs to me... Then again, svelte has a great developer experience, so I would say he's delivering on this.

It's hard to tell if you're joking but in case this is meant seriously or is taken seriously... HN is heavily moderated and it certainly wouldn't be the place it is without it.

If you reduce it by 50% you save 50% waste. If you reduce it by 75% you save 75% waste. You dont' have to entirely wipe it out to save a lot of waste, just make it harder and/or more costly. Attack the supply side, attack the dema

There is no single fix, of course. In situations like this you prioritize... you cut the larger things that have the least value per amount of energy used. Ending crypto mining is the easiest no-brainer in the history of energy systems.

It isn't, but neither is rust. Safe rust is safe from data races, but that's just one kind of potential thread safety issue -- one of the simpler kinds. It's not nothing, but not anywhere close to thread-safe.
