Loved some of the quirky application props they had, like "Mozart's Ghost". I definitely remember making some Visual Basic programs that had a little pi symbol in the bottom corner of the screen. I don't think I even kn

Yeah its probably not fair to compare them really, because I think Hackers (and Wargames) are great too. Just in terms of the movie itself (and cast... I mean my god) its great.

I absolutely love Sneakers. Whenever folks talk about Hackers or the Matrix or any movies or shows that feature tech I argue that Sneakers is the best movie about hacking. I feel like a crazy old man ranting about it to some of my younger

This sort of thing gets developers thinking about how they could improve on the way dates and time are handled by various programming languages. Don't do it! I find it best to just change jobs whenever encountering any sort of task t

I think a lot of bad actors in the crypto community are going after Discord setups. For instance a recent NPM watering hole attack downloaded a scanner that was looking for Discord related credentials and settings. This article mentions a

I suppose if the author asked a few folks to leave positive comments on the post thats not too crazy. I'd do the same thing if I was trying to promote something. I think I'd draw the line at something more programmatic, like som

I use “regular” Firefox for personal stuff and the developer edition for work. After trying a lot of approaches for that separation, it’s what’s worked best for me. Also the developer edition has a cool/different icon

Wonder if this is related to Wirecutter going not just behind the NYT paywall but also requiring an extra subscription beyond the base level. I basically stopped visiting after that.

Unfortunately most of the IT related subreddits are just people complaining about how stupid users/management are.

I agree, I always love sending postcards when I travel. Its a shame that 99% of the physical mail any of us receive is trash. Particularly traveling internationally there will always be something awesome about being able to mail a postcard

I love that whoever created this thinks that some nefarious vote manipulation is going on at YouTube and yet YT just can't muster up enough power, over their own product, to make the "Likes" go in Bidens favor. Also by their

The large proxy providers operate in a sort of gray market. You pay for "residential" or "ISP" based IP addresses. In some instances these proxy connections are literally being tunneled through browser extensions runni

Well I thought eMMC, but as you indicated that's basically just a SD card soldiered to the board (which I didn't know). So NVMe? I didn't think this was a really contentious idea. I've had several Pi projects that I ne

I've gone that route before. My main thought is that it seems like the Pi itself should have more robust/longer lasting storage just be default at this point.

My understanding is that SD cards have a certain write count before they fail (or require a reformat), and that eMMC doesn't. Or that the number of writes before failure is much higher. Is that not correct? Regardless, I understand t

Completely unrelated but front of mind for me since I had a project die this morning - I really wish they'd release a Pi with eMMC storage instead of just the SD card. I know theres alternatives but none of them have the same communit

I'd almost rather physically writing on a whiteboard than using something like Google Docs to pseudo code in. I don't know how someone even remotely technical would think that was OK.

Except for r/ProgrammerHumor unless you like the same 3 jokes about javascript and awkward screenshots from Tinder showing that a developer somehow, against all odds, got a date with the opposite sex.
