I used to work out at this place that had an indoor pool where you could do laps. The room was pretty basic, but people used to sit around the pool and read the newspaper. I always wondered why but then I figured there must be something abo

Was it trained on code? On my quick glance at the training data it seemed to be a clean-up version of common crawl.

I wish there was a summary of how this worked. I see the abstract and lots of figures and movies, but I still don't get a good sense of what exactly the algorithm is. I even skimmed the whole paper.

I haven't heard any trucks around here do that, so maybe they work really well.

It looks like it is required in the US only when the view is obstructed, which I interpret to mean only when there isn't a camera. I would guess people keep using them because there is no perceived downside, and if they hit anyone they

I'm always surprised that we tolerate so much unnecessary noise. We let people fly helicopters around and run leaf blowers. We even allow trucks to go beep beep beep and alert everyone within a kilometer that they are backing up, even

Thanks, I'll look at that. Since it doesn't show up I'm not sure what to add. The printer doesn't identify itself in any way.

I bought a Brother laser printer like the internet told me to, and I even paid extra money to get the one that is easy to connect on wifi, but we can't seem to connect the printer to any macs wirelessly. It only connects to the iphones

I wonder if when you take affects like this into account if it really is safer to have large machines go "beep beep beep" in a warning that can be heard a kilometer away.

Thanks, that's starting to make more sense. With LLMs as the execution platform that both reads data in natural language and takes instructions in natural language, it becomes harder to separate instructions from data.

I still don't get it. Why would you allow a random person to access an agent that has access to your emails? If the LLM has access to your data you have to limit access to that LLM just like limiting access to a database. Edited to add

It’s been a year since we launched ThoughtLog. How many ThoughtPoints have you earned? It stores all of your thoughts automatically, even while you sleep, and it’s free! It is supported by advertising, but don’t worry, most people can tell

For me, it's the unnatural sounds of civilization. The beep beep beep of trucks backing up or construction equipment, leaf blowers, or helicopters flying over while I'm on a nature walk.

That is amazing. The example I use for common sense is putting a penny in a jar, and this is even beyond that. It asked it the other day where you can stand and see a waterfall and not get wet and it correctly said a bridge.

That dollar amount doesn't account for the cumulation of depressing feelings that come every time you receive another scam. I think it makes us feel less cooperative in general and maybe even makes us less likely to try to help others.

That's a useful distinction. I've never been able to understand where the prices come from, and my sister is an ER doctor. I'm surprised that these basic facts are so hard to come by. I read articles that say, well, healthcar

I agree that medical care should be run by the state. I would prefer that to our current system. I don't think its worth us talking any more since we don't seem to be learning from each other.

Come on, we can't be children. I'm saying we need a conversation as a society about how we are going to handle end of life. We can't lurch form unthinking outrage to unthinking outrage.

For me it is a labeling issue. I really don't like the fake sweet flavor. It used to be you could look at the ingredients for a small set of known fake sweeteners, but they seem to invent a new kind every month so I can't keep tra
