If you're in #1, you talk to CloudFlare. They need some great customer stories and they have some great engineers that are most likely willing to work with you on how this will work/help you with bugs in exchange for some success

This view would certainly explain to people outside of Silicon Valley/ SF why the Bay Area has been so dominant in our industry for so many years.

FWIW there are different sizes but they are standardized and you can adapt most sizes to each other (although on the compressor side you only would want to size down). If you ever need to replace it you'll need to be careful with the l

I thought about this more than I care to admit. Bottom line: I don't think it's worth it for most people to have a generator for camping. For me: - Generators are expensive. If you want to charge overnight, you're looki

I am no expert at this but I think the Rivian should perform comparably. The Rivian can do 908 lb-ft of torque. Like you say, that's divided up amongst the 4 wheels, so that's 227 lb-ft per wheel. The Jeep can do 260 lb-ft total.

I do things like this from time to time with my Rivian. You're right that charging infrastructure is a challenge, but two things make a big difference: - Lots of campgrounds have 30 or 50 amp plugs for RVs. Oftentimes off-road trips I

This is probably the case. The truck is between the size of a Tacoma and an F150, and the SUV is about the same size as a Tahoe or a Range Rover. Certainly not small, but not strangely large for the US.

Irrelevant point of order: leftpad didn't get hacked, the owner took it down to prove a point and broke every package that depended on it as npm allowed packages to just be completely removed by the authors at that time.

This person has clearly not actually used Gaia in any significant capacity and is instead taking cheap shots with the hopes of getting upvotes from others that have not used Gaia. Gaia is far from perfect, but this characterization is so co

They are exaggerating it by not including the increases in value elsewhere, but there is "value" destroyed. The flow to other places is not as high as what was lost. I think this is due to the perceived value of proximity not keep

Agreed, there are lots of ways to explore the problem space. The OP framing can be helpful when the manager has context on solution X and its pros and cons so it’s helpful for the team to explain through a shared understanding.

There's a corollary here for engineering managers managing a new (to them) team. With the caveat that they must be very clear that they trust the team and are there to learn, "why don't you do X" is incredibly valuable f

This. levels.fyi is quite accurate both in first-hand data and when discussing salaries with folks that are coming from companies represented on the site. I speculate that one of the things that makes it hard to square with market data is t

From a single interviewers perspective: this does not work. At the company I work at, and in my own interviews, being succinct and articulate in the points you’re making goes a long way. Ending early is not a bad sign.

My working definition is something like “pre-product-market-fit” or “hockey sticking” growth. Once you saturate your market and have to fight for every percentage of growth (or are so big that new things can’t make a big impact even if they

Not covered in the article, but in another demo the company says that they’re going to have a cart for bringing out new batteries and that you can change them out in the field. So if you need more than 10 hours, you can get 2 batteries and

It comes with the downside of being highly regulated. I have no idea if the weights and balances are correct, but it makes sense at the surface level that if you are risking the government’s money, you have to do it on their terms.
