Having 7 cats, they are all different. My oldest mail holds himself rigid. The youngest male - still a kitten - is a noodle of murder and destruction.

Metaware was a prolific compiler company based out of Santa Cruz in the 80s/90s. Loved what they did, they also had a very interesting culture. I knew about them through cough shady cough sites when learning and writing code ba

Funny thing about Rust. I use it for a few small projects. I have advocated for it on a current work project in part because it makes sense for a few reasons. I had planned on it, an advisor (small startup) recommended it, so myself as a

I’ve got an RM2. It was super useful when I was taking some glasses and had to submit electronically. Outside that use case, I rarely have used it.

Google is going to lose money. Their search has been declining for years and the top 1/2 or so of a search is nothing but ads. So, while they may pay for deals, they will likely also lose traffic that helps pay for those deals.

Spent about a week and a half in Croatia (mainly on Vis). Food was quite flavorful. We spent the prior ten days across the Adriatic in Vieste/the Gargano. Both countries have great food. Bread, for me, wasn't as good in Croati

Depending on where you are based, maybe the companies tend to cater to a younger set of developers - few people in their 40s and 50s only have 8-10 years of experience. There are a lot of cases of ageism - it's not explicit but shows

Spent a couple weeks in Italy last month. Autogrills are ok, but there are actually some quite good restaurants in and outside tourist areas. We found an amazing Masseria in the Gargano that was great. Outside Venice there was a beer/

This is not an argument for RTO/on site work. Having been remote for more than a baker's dozen of years, remote can be successful but things like slack and teams are not a drop in replacement for "on site" either. That

Apple’s issues with the EU/etc have nothing to do with it. Apple has a hard core base market. That said, the Vision Pro/headset market is small and Apple is only really going to get the Apple fanboy portion of that.

A comment I made reminded me of this page. Dan Bernstein who developed the Salsa20 and Chacha family of ciphers had a pseudo assembly that compiled into target architectures/instruction sets. It was interesting noting the variations.

"build for scale", it really depends what needs to scale and what is "scale". Nearly every interview, every company these days thinks they need google or such level scaling. Nearly all do not.
