And iBooks dropped all metadata at some point. The wrong network setting on iTunes nukes all your album art. iCal sync is a cruel joke. The moral is don't use Apple cloud services for anything you care about.

Anyone able to help me out here? How do you get it to install? I tried the Melpa instructions and added the following to my .emacs: (require 'package) ;; You might already have this line (add-to-list 'package-archives

That is pretty much what I saw. I was somewhat worried if it was the AT&T modem config or OSX, but nothing I tried fixed it (including explicitly setting DNS sources and so on).

I thought there was a lot of literature pretty convincingly arguing that singleton is in fact an anti-pattern.

I didn't write any of the Python code you are complaining about. The install steps do use environment variables (and in fact set some in the bashrc). The install steps are not a script for reasons I gave in other comments in this thr

It would be hard to be worse. If I turn on too much of IPV6 on OSX DNS takes forever (yes I did check the IPV6 config).

Actually I started looking into it. I don't think I am going to make the AMI. First I am not sure if the NVIDIA driver licenses do or do not allow this. Second I would have to tear down my current run and pay S3 charges to distribute

Some of the steps require user input. Is the "set -e" for dealing with that? Also at least one reboot is needed, the script depends on a lot of external sources being up, and I have seen different behavior on the kernel upgrade

Yes, I have a running instance up now in USWest. If it is free and somebody could shoot me instructions I'll make it an AMI (after lunch, on the way out the door right now).

Yeah, I don't normally "do my own infrastructure" (I know, "it shows"). Usually the client or vendor has supplied the build. And I didn't want to commit to a package manager early in the exercise (in case it

I really wanted to run the deep dream and deep dream animation scripts people have created. I am now re-sharing the instructions I found (with links to original guides). It isn't an automated install. You pretty much have to paste t

I'd say formalizing programming is desirable, but harder than you would suspect. I'd take a look at denotational semantics and Homotopy type theory for some existing formalisms.

I think a key difference is the physics renormalization structures use fairly regular or uniform weights and the deep learning plays a lot with the weights. So there are going to be pretty big differences in behavior.

My take on this. Most software can just barely deal with the complexity of deployment, adding a component designed not to work (the DRM / digital rights management) is just a bridge too far.
