R tends to fall back to a socket/ssh RPC model for parallel computation. This may seem crude- but it is very easy to configure letting one get started very quickly. This article is part of a short series showing how to use these faci

The linked paper seemed really clear (I don't play Go, but I do study dynamic programming algorithms). So it may not pop out unless you play- but it looks like the black stones at Q2-R2 falsify the board (as they have no air holes).

(as others have mentioned) Optimizely's newer engine uses ideas like Wald's sequential analysis. Here is my article on the topic: http://www.win-vector.com/blog/2015/12/walds-sequential-anal... .

The problem is a lot of the age machines (Apple II in particular) had a lot of direct control over the disk hardware. So they could move the head in "half track" increments (reading from positions that potentially interfere with

I agree. I like GitHub (and I pay for their service). But man if they wake up one day and decide to go the SourceForge route (or demand ransom to not do so) it is going to be a pain to redirect stuff.

We use R to do analysis, but it actually includes a very powerful programming language which can be used to conveniently teach (and execute) bits of the lambda calculus.

With anonymous publications special interest groups can drop an unlimited number of publications without exposing their network of shills. So while the proposal might help with some things (which I doubt), it makes others worse.

Table lookup tended to be fast in the old days before the CPU and memory timings got so far out of whack. Now you need to double check that the calculation isn't in fact faster for the range you are interested in.

Such a statement just means they can implement computation in this formalism. Not a huge surprise as you can implement computation with many other structures.
