I don't have examples, but it seems to me you really hear a lot of teens pulling off successful social engineering attacks, even back to the days of phone-hacking. I guess that is evidence that some teens develop a fairly comprehensive

One of my favorite chemistry memories: "what is that dripping out the back of the crystallography setup?" (ans: "okay would be a liquid nitrogen leak, explosive risk oxygen condensing out of the atmosphere.")

I feel this is an instance of prof.dr. Edsger W.Dijkstra just being mean. If one works more on pigeon-hole principles you end up with Ramsey Theory, which covers some amazing results.

My father purchased and built one of the originals as a kit. There was a program that played "flight of the bumble bee" on radio using radio leakage on the S100 bus.

First anxiety is real, you must/can manage it. My trick is externalize and slow down ideas. Instead of immediately pursuing ideas, enter small descriptions of them in a journal. That tends to cut down on the effort to remember them. A

Unfortunately in mathematics "application" is often a synonym for "prove a lemma or theorem." David Spivak told me Peter Freyd once said, “Perhaps the purpose of categorical algebra is to show that which is trivial is tr

When I teach coding, I teach the following. When debugging you must clear your mind of any desire to fix the problem. You are most effective if you work only to find and identify the problem.

It gets even better. := is an abandoned assignment operator in R (derived from ←). It is still in the syntax with no default implementation. A few packages use it (data.table, dplyr, wrapr) for quoted assignment tasks.

I think he also said something along the lines of: don't introduce a class over a struct if you are not trying to maintain an invariant. Very good advice.
