Yes, that is my experience too on Linux. However, most times it isn’t actually necessary to write the full RAM out and IIRC Windows and macOS actually don’t. There are a few approaches that work, e.g. you can do memory ballooning and drop c

There are tons of use cases where you might want the actual image. Some are completely legal, some might not be. Some usecases I’m thinking of: printed handouts for a (kid’s birthday) party, a picture for an informal non-public Powerpoint p

It’s unfiltered fresh spring water yes, but these are still human-built fountains with a known source where the water quality is measured in regular intervals. It’s not a random stream in the woods. Switzerand is much smaller, so we have pe

I have the DPT-RP1, and it's fantastic for reading things in A4 or letter format like articles and papers. The best things about it are the large size and the extremely light weight, which makes it both easy to read and hold. Highlight

You’re getting downvoted, but while what you describe probably isn’t going to happen, you’re not too far off. We’re already “there” with walled garden app stores, and outside of that app signing where you need to pay to be in a “developer p

How is a support license going to help? You’ll still have to fix your own applications yourself, Oracle is certainly not going to do that for you.

You don't need an email provider, you can just set up a mail server on your own computer. If the person you are sending your mail to also has their own mail server you send it directly to them without any provider every seeing it. EDIT

I like the idea of taking the brewing into account. It’s clear that the added cold water from the pump will result in cooling of the boiler water, and the amount of cooling is easy to calculate. But you probably need to add a sensor to meas

Does the optional dimming of the boiler make a difference in your design? Mine just fully turns on and off all the time, and I reckon dimming would probably be easier on the power grid. 2000W on/off vs ~80W average (I measured) is quit

I just bought an espresso machine, and it’s crazy that something as simple as a PID controller justifies a several hundred dollar markup on some models. The processing power needed is miniscule...!

What's really cool is that if you save a video, then play it, and then save a video again, the small overlay player will actually show up in the second video. Did you have to take care of that yourself?

Wow. Not only did you develop RetroClip, but then you developed it again just so you could put up a live demo version in the browser. And it actually works! That's some dedication...! (and definitely worth 5$) EDIT: It seems like it

I remember compilation being rather slow though, and deleting the EIFGENS folder frequently when something stopped working. This meant all the C code had to be regenerated and then recompiled, which took a while. I still think it was a grea

But can you sync calendars and contacts? CalDAV and CardDAV are the standards talked about in the article. They’re supported internally, but you seem to have no way to add the URLs if it’s anything other than the mentioned providers.

It's an interesting article, but submitting it like this with a completely different title is unfortunate and doesn't do the author any favours. I hope @dang can retitle it.
