High quality, contentious comments should be front and center in the discussion. People also seem to like expressing their opinion by clicking, which acts counter to this goal. I find myself wishing there were two values: agree/disagree and

I got excited... I was hoping for renaming and moving files that are in-use. That continues to be the bane of my win7 experience.

This sounds like a shortcut. Those exist. Also, besides copying files to removable drives, etc, the primary reason I copy a file is because I want two separate copies. Otherwise I would move it.

Why downvotes? Maybe for many of you, the answer is obvious, but I think this can be an interesting question. Certainly, some additional work goes into each separate version and you shouldn't just get that for free. But to pay full price fo

What sort of job are we talking about? Certainly, being a self-taught programmer and self-teaching your way through a CS degree are different things. Likewise, Computer Science as an academic field and Programming as a career are different.

I think that my comment came across as an attack. Rather, I just find the ways in which poems can interact with and affect existing, seemingly fixed aspects of language are beautiful and interesting! And in particular, it means that poetry

Then, for these users you describe, it could be that every google search is preceded by a bing search (from the browser search bar, for "google").

It's just that being in a poem doesn't have anything to do with being correct or not, whether it is correct in this poem or not.

Actually, I realize I squeezed in let without noticing. Try this... --- "on" sounds much more natural to me, and I think that's enough for me. Idiom counts in a language, too. In and on might seem technically interchangeable, but (somet

While "on" sounds much more natural to me, I think "in" works as well. But definitely not because on and in are interchangeable. You can simply say: "He let loose his temper." so... It is poor form to sleep in a meeting. It is poor form

I also think there is a lot of room between flag-worthy and front-page-worthy. Any legit review my startup gets main page? What minimally counts as a startup? On the other hand, low-scoring "show" submissions might especially stand a lot

If you sue someone, you pay your court fees and lawyer fees no matter what, and if you lose, you pay the defendants court fees and lawyer fees in addition. But the defendant doesn't pay the plaintiff's legal fees. It's not perfect, but I th

No, I don't think so. I don't think the question presumes that inventing is a good thing and not inventing is a bad thing. In fact, here, you would probably say that the current work does not involve inventing things, but rather putting e

While I think it's likely that many file-sharers are in the "try-before-you-buy" camp, I also expect this is mostly just a correlation. I spend more than most of my friends on media, and I also download/share more for free than most of them
