Ahh, when determined as a percentage of msrp the field gets murky. But 10% of a $20,000 msrp is markedly different than 10% of a $70,000 msrp. In raw dollars higher msrps depreciate by a much larger whole dollar amount, which would be refle

Most used car models are based on retailing a high percentage of dealer trades as they are the highest margin source of inbound vehicles. Easy source checks are any research on CarMax, a light review of any of Pollacks books(Velocity, Veloc

Luxury brands depreciate at a higher per-day-per-mile amount than non-luxury brands. A trivial amount of research will prove this out. No disrespect intended.

The new hotness in the auto business is used car only stores. So not EVERY dealer would suffer from your proposed hardship. Further, the way the market segments some people only consider new cars. It's as much habit or bias as it is an

Was about to say it deploys to Linux but I assume the editor doesn't run on Linux. Having a couple of decades alternating between serious game development and just dabbling I can't stress enough how big the delta between Unity and

I'm a Unity fan-boy. Deploys to almost every modern platform and uses a "code-once" approach so porting from Android to IPhone to PC to Linux is largely straightforward. It lets you code in a subset of javascript or c# 3.0 an

"You are overhead — until and if you ever deliver." - That's a very "engineery" statement. History is littered with engineers that build great things and never convert them to commercial success. This is a two-fold

I'm not sure you could back that up with case studies. Most companies are disrupted because they focus too narrowly. They also tend to think they're in the "tool" business when they grew successful as a solution business

I'd like to recommend the book "Flow" as it deals with this issue but I can't do it in good conscience. If you are willing to pick out a few grains from a lot of chaff you may be able to mine out a decent treatment of th

Perhaps parallel to your point but not only does compilation take time but development takes even more time. The article essentially compares mutable and immutable values, and their effect on compilation and cycles. Sure the type system is

I respectfully disagree with the major premise of your post. In every decent hacker there is a bit of masochist. Toolchain development is always the least glamorous role in the company and one of the most important. In the game industry you

I've been faced with a similar design choice on my current project and it's not as simple as "adding a layer" or progressively developing. If you plan to implement what is more traditionally a native app rather than a typical website then y

There's a flaw in the entire data set. I would "kill whitey" or the "blackman" to save the "victim group" but I would know that it was morally wrong. It doesn't test morality, it tests your response to the situation. Thus my moral code is a
