I'm guessing you aren't a software engineer on a team that shares oncall responsibility, in an org with other engineering teams and dozens of mircoservices.

They've had great sales, and the stock was even upgraded by a major analyst last week because they show a track record of being resilient and still being able to grow. So unless they suddenly had a bad quarter (which ends next week), t

Hi HN, I’m one of the co-founders of Metrist. We are excited to be launching today and would love your feedback. Metrist offers direct observability of the cloud products that power modern software. Everything from EKS, to Twilio, GitHub, a

Never host your status page where you host your app, and never use your billing product to handle your own billing.

You got it right, it's a developer tool. Its not hard to get alerted about an issue, or to suspect a cloud dependency. Verifying it, which is typically required to take action, is what can take 10-30 minutes.

Ya, that makes sense, it really isn't a normal use-case. I wish we kept tracking the other regions to see if they have had this change roll out to them yet, or if it's still slow rolling.

We used our own product to learn about and debug the issue. Its rather wild that they'd roll out this change so incrementally, which my colleague outlines here.

Must be a specific AZ, not seeing any issues here EDIT: I see now that it's an API Gateway issue, so that's why my team isn't impacted.

My guess is that there is zero correlation between all those products you mention, and Github. DownDetector is interesting, but I find it to have more noise than signal.

The errors seems to be rather intermittent. Metrist saw a grouping of them at about 4am pacific today, and then again 3pm. That said, in the last hour, less than 1% of Metrist functional tests failed.
