I'm not buying that. Any startup whose CEO relies on HN and blogs for legal advice is going to fail.

Does anyone think this will go anywhere? Since JavaFX was announced it's seemed like nothing more than an also-ran that was dead in the water before they even got started. FTA: "Sun officials demonstrated JavaFX running with video capabilit

This is vaksel's second submission this week about Mark Cuban and insider trading. The last one was Mark Cuban's one line response to the insider trading allegations and also pointed to his blog. Just what, exactly, does Mark Cuban have to

Did you read both Zed's and DHH's posts? Perhaps "damning" is too strong a word in this situation, but at the very least DHH is clearly mistaken. At worst, he is a liar. Memory leaks in Mongrel that were fixed in 2006 are the at the center

True, it could have been an honest mistake. However, like I said in my comment above DHH starts off the post wondering aloud about Zed's state of mind and whether he needs help. Even if the Mongrel thing was a legitimate error the opening p

Yeah. The guy usually comes off as an angry lunatic but his posts are still informative. DHH, on the other hand, seems to gloss over details and his posts tend to read more like marketing materials than anything else. Although this little f

Yahoo had already gone bad before bringing in Semel. I think it started during the dot com craze. They had no focus or direction. They were basically becoming like AOL. In fact, that's most likely the primary reason they picked up Semel in

A slight oversight? The whole thing is an oversight! There are plenty of reasons why a person might want to use on a treadmill and quite a few of them stem from not wanting to run or walk outside. Weather, safety, embarrassment about one's

It makes sense for Microsoft to continue to develop IE because they are capable of doing so and they also want to be a major player in the web applications market. Having control of a platform is a huge advantage when developing software ta

That little comment from Ballmer has really been blown out of proportion. When I read it I thought to myself that Ballmer was just being polite to a developer who had just asked a ridiculous question. It's absurd to think that Microsoft is

I'm not so sure it was a mistake. If you want to put on a tinfoil hat for a minute we could speculate that Microsoft wasn't genuinely interested the first time. That botched acquisition was a media circus and effectively destroyed Yahoo. Si

There was a whole discussion about this on HN yesterday. Well, more specifically it was about John Doerr's suggestion that Obama choose Bill Joy as national CTO. Anyway, can we give the political stuff a rest? Take it over to Reddit or Digg

We don't know if Bill Joy is the most qualified. My point is that we should question Doerr's agenda. If Bill Joy did become a part of the new administration Doerr's firm would likely reap huge benefits similar to the way Halliburton did whe

Regardless of Bill Joy's qualifications, this is difficult to accept considering Bill Joy is a partner at John Doerr's firm. I'm not at all opposed to the idea of a national CTO, but this article appears to be a blatant attempt on the part

I haven't used Verizon, but I have used ATT and currently have a G1 with T-Mobile. Data speed has always been better with ATT, but the rest leaves a lot to be desired in my opinion. That said, the speed on T-Mobile isn't as bad as I thought
