I’ve been running local Gitea for about 4 years. It works great, no complaints here. I mirror my GitHub repos (and sensitive repos I don’t want to trust on GitHub) and back up the hard drives with BackBlaze.

Just used one of these the other day. No way you’re mistaking the liquid with a twist off cap as an eye dropper (unless you’re blindly dropping mystery liquids in your eye). Dermal contact is more likely. They do have ample warnings on the

Used and refinished. If you’re willing to put lot money in it, the Amish make some really good furniture. Personally I like this store in the Bay Area, but I think they take orders and deliver. https://fentonmaclaren.com/

Don’t connect to the internet. If you need it for reference or reading, gather it before your “work session” where you want to get in the zone. If you need Internet (ie for what you are working on) simply don’t open a browser, or if you nee

No, but employers usually look at it for past work experience and positions. All of this will be on your CV/resume anyway. I believe that I get a lot more recruiters reaching out because of it (for better or worse).

Extremely / Very Low frequency radio is fascinating and is surprisingly not used that often. Radio propagation characteristics include being able to pass through water and ground, and continually bounce across the ionosphere / cir

Google “APRS digipeter setup”, you’ll find lots of solutions which fit your needs (mobile, home station, etc). This video explains a raspberry pi setup with Dire Wolf (software TNC): https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=YqTpyPLtjUA

Yep totally right. Worth noting that you can use an older phone repurposed for connecting to a cheap baofeng for just APRS purposes. Radios with APRS are great but quite expensive. Also 100% recommend anyone interested getting their Amateur

I’m using a Baofeng UV-5R (radio) and the APRS-K1 cable. I’ve linked Amazon pages but you can get them for slightly cheaper off eBay or AliExpress. Radio: https://www.amazon.com/Baofeng-UV-5R-136-174-400-480Mhz-1800... Cabl

Not exactly, you transmit on a “normal” VHF frequency (which you must be a licensed amateur to broadcast on) and the data gets picked up by a “digipeter” (radio to internet repeater) which then gets picked up and relayed to SMS by a gateway

Data on shortwave is really cool. You can get super long distances bouncing off the ionosphere or even meteor scatter trails.

Yeah you can use a cheap Baofeng radio (can get as low as $15-20), an “APRS cable” for it (about $20 on Amazon or make your own) which takes mic/ptt and audio out and feeds it to a 3.5” TRRS plug (think iOS / android headphones wi

Also supports optional message ack by placing ? after callsign. I’m looking to use this in the woods in case of emergency as you can forward your APRS message through one of the many digipeters available on mountain tops. Interested to hear

It’s hard to tell looking at FRED but it seems like it may be due to a change in how they do their accounting starting in May of 2020 (when all the dollars “seem” to appear). From FRED: Before May 2020, M1 consists of (1) currency outside t

It may be that the “run” part is intent in the legal sense, but I meant using a “hit and run” as a a tool of intentional homicide. There are plenty of other ways to harm or kill people out there. More terrifying are those in which the victi

In practice this is something we simply do not have enough data points on (places where the population is armed). It’s easy to speculate one way or another, but you are only legally protected in self defense, not homicide. I’m not convinced
