Your comment was thoroughly written and informative, thanks. Not sure why you've been down-voted. Is discussing meta aspects of submissions frowned upon? I would think blog writers would like to see tips on how to write well. I'd

Steve's right, this type of endeavor is the very essence of hacking. As RMS once wrote, "Hacking included a wide range of activities, from writing software, to practical jokes, to exploring the roofs and tunnels of the MIT campus.

This is a salient point. Think about how writing software for one platform (much less highly optimizing it for that platform) doesn't guarantee cross compatibility. Soylent might work for a group of 20 something white males in Californ

As a fellow hacker who has spent a significant amount of time trying to understand how diet, exercise, and nutrition work - especially within my own body - I can confirm the Soylent campaign's "know it all" attitude is off-pu

The Dr. salutation threw me off, I don't think he's technically a doctor. However he has been awarded a bunch of honorary doctorates.

One title I found interesting recently was Rasmus Lerdorf's (creator of PHP.) He is a 'Distinguished Engineer' at Etsy ( http://lerdorf.com/resume/ )

Why not? If someone hires you to be an engineer and you succeed, then go for it. In the end I think what matters most in what you call yourself is the confidence you have in your skills.

You can 'more or less' indicate a vote by voting. Yes, your response was too short; I would prefer you go into more detail. Otherwise, just vote and leave it at that.

I hope you're joking. XML is a superior format for semantically marking up content from a very detail-oriented dataset like this.

The article isn't clear on whether the pilot had never landed a 777 before, or just never a 777 at SFO.

I signed up for virtualpostmail.com recently since I was moving abroad. It is similar to outbox except all of your mail goes directly to their facility. As in, you forward you mail to a new address provided by them. Then there's scanning/ f

This article is incredibly terse and uninformative. Why are older engineers having such a hard time? Are they keeping up with new technologies to remain competitive? What kind of engineering are we even talking about?

I think the 'stupid typo' argument is not really valid if you're using syntax checking (e.g. jshint/jslint) in your stack.
