Because unfortunately, your problem as you get older is baggage - the worst thief of sleep of all time. Sorry, no cure unless you're a zen stoic psychopath. Would love to achieve that designation myself.

There was no ICO, it has an immutable fixed supply, it's not in perpetual startup mode, and not centrally controlled operationally and can't be bought back.

Is this a writeup about Zig, or any Wirth language written 50 years ago? Asking for some Modula2 OG.

A ton of that can be automated through your delivery system as well. Managers need to become flow engineers and get away from managing people.

Suggest wrong direction. Make teams more autonomous and develop the art of the backlog. Too much management is what's wrong with organizations these days.

Yeah, living in these legacy markets has become clunky, and the markets can't be changed. If I found out that I no longer needed to swallow rocks to digest my food, why would I ever go back to doing so?

A sidebar to this includes abusing "easy" to equate to "requiring less energy" to operate. An increase in stress equates to more energy used. To wit, being forced to find differences in ui functionality across mobile and

I've worked with some kanban teams who were absolute animals. Kanban is great if your board workflow doesn't get too complicated, and the team is constrained from doing scrum. Ex. locomotive software has to be fully deployed on a

Agree on Goldratt, and the book his daughter wrote and recently released, called 1) "Goldratt's Rules of Flow." Theory of constraints is a rich subject with heavy roots in industrial engineering. Look for Don Reinhardt's

Simpler and more executable than that, actually. 1) Basic premise of waste: People need to be told what to do, people wait to be told what to do. 2) Eliminate the waiting by standing up a value stream where everyone is part of the value str

Cynical but true in my experience coaching multiple F250s. More competitive companies will move to a model based on managing the flow of value, while legacy companies will be stuck with a model based on managing people. The two models are v

Both Delphi and FreePascal (less so) support windows, linux, mac, android with the same codebase (or calls rather). The Delphi model has really set the standard for a robust desktop framework, since before most people started writing code.

You know, nobody likes this argument, but desktop is still just better. Yeah, yeah, the updates, security issues, I get it, but the tools are simple better, render faster, better functionality/complexity ratio, less gnashing of teeth.

All this above. Dystopia for you: Track digital exchange or currency at the Fed level, but they still mandate you file a tax return. It's a control mechanism. That and some taxco maybe has a nice condo in the Bahamas for use by friends

22. 112.▲
    by jksmith 3y ago

Exactly. Supporting these legacy management models should be deprecated. Legacy is all about managing people. The superior approach is re-focusing on managing the flow of value. Layers get eliminated when that happens effectively, regardles

    by jksmith 4y ago

Granted, yes. But as more digital capabilities creep into the financial system, what if gov knows what you owe (and kills turbotax market) but still mandates you file a return?
24. 114.▲

Then more money will have to be printed. So we get a raise, but the raise still doesn't match the hurdle rate, while demand remains the same. That's some dystopian fucked up shit there.

26. 116.▲
    by jksmith 4y ago

That's what they do anyway if you don't file. Yeah, mandating filing is increasingly becoming a control mechanism as filing's only purpose.
