Well, maybe not before `yarn` actually installs the dependencies of all projects. It still has bugs where it doesn't install "random" transitive dependencies when using `yarn --prod`. Seems premature to make it part of node.

The important part here is not "be able to use devtools to debug node". It's "debug node & a browser tab in the same instance of devtools". E.g. you don't need to switch tabs.

Yes, debit card payments is who you'd buy everyday goods and services (e.g. the normal grocery shopping) in most of Europe. In Germany many people don't even own a credit card because debit cards fulfill that role already in every

"You can't proof the absence of defects" comes to mind. No matter what language you use, this will be a "problem". Even in Haskell your function that is supposed to create a temporary cache file may delete your file

In this case: You're potentially closing over node's "this inside of module body === exports" which seems more confusing than helpful..?

It's not about the upload timestamp but about the time of creation. Fox could have said "we created this episode three month ago" when that's the time the episode was first pitched and it would still be fine.

The problem is not that it's flashy but that it's hard to use. You have to accidentally scroll because the site is designed to hide the fact that there's more content at the bottom. At first glance it's a huge blue recta

TypeScript's type system is "occasionally typed". E.g. in trivial, C#/Java-style code it works well. And even there it falls back to `any` way too often (and it can become hard to find out way). Flow's type system i

Personal pet peeve: Please don't set the node engine field in npm packages. It potentially breaks your package whenever there's a new release candidate because `node@7.0.0-rc.1` is less than (!) `node@6.0.0` when it comes to npm&#

Adding support for `import` will be a huge breaking change unless all existing packages have to opt-into it somehow. I don't think anybody has a good plan for this yet, apart from treating it as syntactic sugar for CommonJS.

It looks like it works by just reusing the devtools that are part of electron instead of shipping it's own (like node-inspector). That might make it more reliable than node-inspector for basic debugging. But that's only a guess af

Because the initial one is where you'd interface (potentially) with non-promise code. E.g. in order to wrap a node-style function, you can't throw or return. But in general you shouldn't need to use `new Promise()`, that shou

Worth pointing out that there's no dynamic allocation or dispatch in any of the examples (afaict), so all languages that use a GC get around having to do any reference tracking or collection. Which explains how Go/Java/C++ ca

Symbols in ruby might have the same name but are fundamentally different. E.g. in ruby `:foo` and `:foo` are the same thing. In JavaScript, they are quite explicitly not the same thing. They share little in common (in terms of how they wo

The other funny thing is: ES6 introduced `Map`, `Set`, and the `class` keyword. All of them throw if you try to create a new instance without `new`. It also introduced `Symbol`, which throws if you do use `new`.
