Because I'd be there on business? You seem weirdly upset that I'd want to see my family after work.

Interesting -- I'll look into that for NYC. I'm CTO at a startup based in Toronto, but we have a tiny space in Manhattan so it's pretty easy for me to schedule some business there and have my family tag along.

What's definitely not the answer is leaving valuable real estate empty. I'm out of town a couple weekends a month, and travel to visit the wife's family overseas for around a month every year. No way to do short term rentals

Yeah those cleaning fees are bullshit. I don't want to see the prices of only one item on a list shown on the map, I want to see how much it actually costs to stay there. tbf you'll see this on a lot of hotel bookings too. We just

That's great for the people who have an easy time affording their units and can pay a premium for the peace and quiet. I bought in a building that banned airbnb 2 weeks after my purchase. We go away often on weekends or for a 1-month s

If it were simply ancient, that'd be one thing, but it's a weird hybrid of es3 with _some_ es5 features, and some es6 ones that often don't work the same. e.g. it has `const`, but no `let`, and it's not even block scoped

I've been hit by this at least a half dozen times over my career. Apps scripts are probably the latest one causing me pain. I love being able to integrate with docs & sheets, but man if that ecma version isn't ancient af.

I frequently run across libs that are more complicated to configure and call than implementing the features myself. I'll often roll my own simply because the lib (even if it's really popular) takes more time to use than that "

I much prefer regular meetups if you're looking to branch out and meet new devs. The hackathon style of coding isn't really all that practical - even if you work at a mismanaged company that's constantly in "crunch time&

What you're missing is covered in the article: the purpose of testing is to improve the product, not accurately document all the problems with one iteration of it. Better to test with 3 sessions of 5 users, than 1 session of 15.

Not really. A => B doesn't imply that not-A => not-B. Total number of jobs or time spent in the labour market is one thing, but ultimately what we care about is efficiently creating utility. If I need to spend 5h working to get e

Some are good, but that Lupin guy... geez. I'd like to think I'm a lot less elitist than I was when I was so (I assume) young, but he comes across a bit "racisist" himself.

As a Canadian, it's crazy that anyone could think of the Democrats as far left. Our Conservative party stopped fighting against gay marriage before the Democrats did.

You wouldn't, but many do. That's exactly the problem - borders are always going to be a legal grey area, so many will focus on crossing the border illegally, even if they make an asylum claim after they arrive.
