I took an Intro to Crypto course offered through my University's Mathematics department and we used that exact text. I'm the kind of person that requires a very good text in order to do well in a course, and the book in question w

I used Angelist to find a job once. Salary said $110-120k. Interviewed. Offered the job on the spot. "Since we're just going into another fundraising round the most we can offer is $80k." Didn't take that job.

Its not actually the search bar that's important: the Google Search APK is where all of the Google Now functionality lives. This change basically turns the home screen into Google Now.

I believe this is primarily to fix the latency that existed when you tapped the little search bar up top. Before, the Search APK had to be launched—now its already running.

We use SFO to denote our San Francisco office, and I've seen other companies do the same. Not necessarily contradicting you, just offering another data point.

I'm legitimately stumped. Which large bird starts with 'O'? Or is it second from the top.. so an Ibis?

Look HN, I understand that people disagree. That's the point of this site, right? If you don't like what I said, let's talk about it. Down voting opinions you don't agree with seems childish at best.

If she's doing something she could be getting paid for bit she's not charging, then society definitely should not have to pick up the bill. That's just unfair.

Not everything has to have a benefit. This is an extremely entertaining project, something OP worked on over several weekends because it was something he wanted to see exist. No need to get all high and mighty about purpose and benefit.

I noticed the same thing. Perhaps it could be an effect of how those populations use Twitter as well? Regardless, this project is awesome, and way too fun to watch. Even if 90% of the photos are of the same Korean kid with the red bowl-cut.

I don't think you've eaten in a Google cafeteria then. The food here really is top-notch. An equivalent restaurant would cost you between $25 and $35 a plate, possibly more depending on the day. I've had meals that would have

I don't think Google's hiring standards have decreased, they've just shifted their focus away from inaccurate signals such as where you went to University and what your GPA was there. One could argue that Google's hiring

Seriously, this might be the most important change in the list. Jake's work has been incredible, but having this provided by the support library is a huge improvement to Android development.

Slow platforms are exactly where you need to talk algorithmic complexity. Switching to a faster environment would only reduce a routine's execution time by a constant multiplier—switching algorithms has the potential to do much more.
