I know it's popular to bash TC on here, and I've long since accepted that it comes with the territory, but this is a pretty ridiculous comment. We frequently break news before the WSJ and NYT. Case in point: the Google Voice/Apple/AT&T

This is an argument that can fly with Skype and Sling, but not with Google Voice. When you make a call on Google Voice, you're still using your regular AT&T minutes (in other words, it's not going over the data connection).

Different story — it had not been previously reported that Google's official app was blocked.

This isn't really surprising, but it is a little disappointing (I always hoped these guys were just ridiculously witty with their comebacks). Seems like it's par for the course though. Back when the election season was in full swing I had

Just wrote about this on TC, I think it's a great idea. http://www.techcrunch.com/2009/07/16/awesome-the-game-crafte... To give credit where credit is due, I found it here. Would link to this thread but there's the whole HN secrecy thing

We were protecting a source. End of story. The majority of the time tipsters do not want to be named when there's a possibility they could be retaliated against (as is the case on platforms like Twitter, iPhone, etc).

This is just stupid. I'm usually fine with the TechCrunch criticism — frankly, we deserve it sometimes. But this was about protecting a source. Oftentimes when we receive information like this we won't reveal the source unless we're given

The dot shouldn't matter. As with Gmail, it looks like it treats it the same way (try going to Facebook.com/z.uck vs Facebook.com/zuck)

Think it's just coincidence. Fridays/weekends tend to have less breaking news so we have more time to do more involved posts.

Even with academic queries it's very hit or miss. When you get something that returns relevant results it's a Eureka! moment, and you'll be impressed. But then you try a similar query and get zilch. I suspect academics will try their quer

Shouldn't you be making this a premium app then? I thought you could only do in-app subscriptions if it was paid to begin with.

I don't think so. You've been able to get PDF versions of many books (both textbooks and novels) for a few years. I've never met anyone who actually printed one out or read an entire book from their computer, save for maybe a leaked Harry

I believe it works similar to the way the iPhone's GPS does (it asks if you'd like to give a site/app permission on a site by site basis).

I think gallows humor makes sense sometimes. For example, in the case of terrorism, which we really have no way to prevent and can just as easily hit the rich as it can the poor. Hence, the jokes that we hear nightly about Osama, etc. But

Hi, I'm a writer at TechCrunch. Because many entrepreneurs on this forum are going to eventually be reaching out to bloggers, here are a few tips that are probably better suited for 'new media' rather than traditional press. Note that I h

Actually I'm not sure this had anything to do with the new design. It may have been coincidence that the bug was found now (I'll try to find out).

It's pretty sad that the top rated comment on a Y Combinator forum about a Y Combinator site launching is about typos. Get off your high horse. Leave a comment in the post if you see a typo and we'll usually fix it within a few minutes.

Hi, I write for TechCrunch and figured I could add a few thoughts (this is a great article, BTW). Don't say things that are clearly bullshit. I'd rather hear a 'no comment' than an outright lie. Example: I once asked a CEO who had laid off

This is actually one of the coolest apps I've played with in a long time. Won't be surprised if it's the top ranked app by the end of the week.
