It's exactly correct. The two points aren't in opposition.

Not if the project is written well. Yes, dependency hell is a thing, but there are ways to deal with it and make good code. Autotools will straight up tell you version x.x.x of library y is required, and as long as that's available,

I'm learning Rust now, I don't have anything particularly against it other than the obvious, big static binaries and such, and maybe those will be fixed eventually. I've been able to compile and run C and C++ code from 20 yea

Right -- it didn't give the exact same feedback to the pilot that the regular 737 did, which was why MCAS was created. The aircraft is no more or less unstable than a regular 737. The original 737 does exactly the same thing the Max d

Illegal and unethical can be the same -- they don't have to be, but it's not wrong to discuss cases where they are.

Cite? I'm certain that's not correct, everything I've read on it has said MCAS was specifically a software modifier put in place to allow the plane to respond substantially the same as a regular 737 without the larger engines

I suspect that Apple has highly optimized Metal to support their own new processors.

Those can be easily spoofed. I don’t know if current mouse jigglers in use have a specific Id or not, but there’s no reason they would have to have a recognizable Id.

The Dell Mini 9 was essentially the same hardware as one of the MacBooks at the time, so it was trivial to get it to boot OSX 10.6 as I recall. The Mini 10, otoh, was totally different and a royal pain to get working. It was actually a pret

The idea is that you can't track any of the transaction paths. There's nothing tying a specific input transaction to a specific output transaction, and great pains are taken to ensure there cannot be any publicly available link

Agreed, but the A12Z is an iPad processor. It's not likely to be what they're releasing as a laptop processor.

I don’t agree with your characterization- anyone who thinks iohk is a pump and dump is woefully misinformed. Cardano may or may not be the way of the future for who knows what, but the amount of academic work put into it really doesn’t supp

Honest question, do you believe Lenin and Stalin were better than the Czars? I'm not arguing either were good, just curious about your point of view here.

I don't know the details of Apple's licensing agreements, but note the fact that the word "ARM" is totally absent from all their marketing. They own their own chip design company (PA Semi), we know they're using th

I'm not nearly smart enough on that stuff. I fear I will need to get deeply into it in order to setup tooling that will run on the new Macs for embedded development.

QEMU is an emulator, not virtualization. It allows the user to run an OS designed for one type of CPU on a host system of a different type. i.e running Raspbian (ARM Linux) through QEMU on an X64 Linux Host running on an X64 machine. Virt

I suspect it's because HR doesn't know the difference. It is easier to learn C++ if you know C, but it's a good point, they're not the same languages, and have diverged greatly over the years. I would understand that b

Not as rare as you might think. Embedded is definitely being done in C++. Gaming -- Unreal Engine still uses C++ as I recall. HFT has been mentioned already. Robotics, automation. Lots of stuff is still done in C++ and not going to leav
