That would be a great volley back on how revealing metadata is, a la the Paul Revere piece. I know the White House has to keep these records - if congresspeople (AND their staff) don't, there oughta be a law.

Metadata is data. It's a security leak for the government, not us citizens whose data they're holding.

Pedantry? Not here, surely. Yeah, I wouldn't use those words in place of "affordance". My point is that those are also words in the designer vocabulary, but ones that are on the fluffy side of design rather than the hard huma

'Affordance' helps designers flesh out a professional vocabulary. Sounds a lot more technical than 'honest', 'humane' or 'civil', all of which I overuse. Speaking of civility, my touchstone design boo

You're not crazy. I've found that a small customer service interaction early on (regardless of fault) helps solidify a good first impression. Not that I intentionally create problems...

Indeed, in hardware there's a larger gap between a working prototype and a scalable product. The iteration loop has been getting cheaper and faster, but still is very unforgiving.

If you're doing something approaching consumer hardware, no, one person can't do this (until someone does, of course). Being good at the quadrant of hard/soft and design/engineering takes a da Vinci, and he didn't mass produce any of it. Ap

Exactly. It's a reminder that Kickstarter does curate, and that nothing beats email. Getting featured in Kickstarter's weekly newsletter is probably the biggest boost, and then they'll feature you on the front page and/or category pages.
