I feel like having a meme generator as a tool at work is just a bad idea for even mid-sized companies, let alone a company of Google's size. Someone's pursuit for laughs will inevitably lead to some people feeling offended or hurt

I am personally fine with my current phone speeds. I even use my phone as a hotspot for my laptop when I do coding at the park. Curious what the bottlenecks for people are that make them want 5G so urgently?

Thanks for sharing, I found it really cool and informative. Also, just a great example of an innovative marketing strategy: provide legitimate value to people who are part of your target market.

I think the major hangup for this discussion is that each of us probably have a different definition of what counts as a friend. I think there's certainly a gradient between "friendly" and "friend", but I honestly d

Really cool idea, although it does seem to label most of what I draw as "line", "stitches", or "rain".

Your assumption requires that no one actually wants or will buy the 256gb option. I for one definitely would consider it, all my current computers have only 256gb and I haven't had issues (external hard drives are cheap).

Honestly, if the relevant content they showed be was actually relevant and interesting, I wouldn't mind at all. That is a big "if" though.

I think a point of confusion is that "startup" means different things to different people. I believe the parent comment here really means "average, early-stage SF startup" in place of "startup".

But them making a decision to benefit themselves is not necessarily mutually exclusive to a decision that benefits other developers and the OSS community. Your point is valid, but just want to clarify that it isn't necessarily all nega

Yeah definitely, from reading the article it sounds like they just want the freedom to do what they want to do (and that likely could come with bonus income). The article mentions the programmer's wife is an optometrist and is still wo

You do bring up an interesting point. Apple's (expected?) responsibility here is to protect their users from malicious apps on their devices. It does seem reasonable for me what they are doing, but of course if they were to lose sight

As long as the loot boxes are for cosmetics and are not deceptive in any way, I have no issue with games including them.

It's explicitly not a subscription because you can still play the game without purchasing the additional expansions. I have played Destiny 2 consistently since it was released for PC, but I play it almost exclusively for PvP (Crucible)

I totally agree with you. And to add to your point, the impact of having a dominance in the market of "personal project repos" extends far beyond individual developers paying money on their personal accounts and/or becoming p

I am confused by this sentiment. Wouldn't moving to another product (like bitbucket or gitlab) put you in the same boat (since they also offer free private repositories)?

A native app with no server backend is the same as a web application with no server backend. In that case you really just need to put those static web files into an S3 bucket and route a domain to it. The cost is very low for this.

Although the author did mention this in the article. I still wonder how much some of these indie games would benefit from partnering with a marketing consultant. Listing a game on steam is basically free marketing for the game. The author m
