Good luck Kyle. It will be interesting to hear if you get any takers. One thing I wonder is if the kind of people that would take up an offer like this have the means to pay for it. As in: do the "idea guys" that can't find technical guys h

That's probably not the best example, as Blender was initially closed-source until the creators went bankrupt. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blender_(software)

I'm just waiting for them to jack up the price for Christmas day - so all the people that get given an iPad/iPhone/iPod Touch for Christmas view the top list and buy at full price. Having said that - I purchased five EA iPad games on the we

Are you the same guys that made PushupFu for the iPhone? Or is that purely coincidental?

For those that don't know, an HP MSA2000 is a baby SAN - a small business storage array. There's not a lot of info in that post, and I don't see any other posts in the thread. This is an issue if it can be accessed remotely, but not a big d

Great and a much needed product... But isn't it a bit of an expensive entry point compared to the alternatives? Check out the current prices of box.net and sugar sync.

I use JungleDisk ( https://www.jungledisk.com/ ) - it's good because it can be used for backups, syncing, and previous versions of synced folders. It also does multiple users and multiple operating systems (Mac/Windows - probably does Linux

Here's another vote for Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. It's also good to be able to fight pretty much full-force in training as well - which you can't really do in a striking art.

It can happen. If you get a large enough body of voters that start to live off the government, that government can stay in power for a long time. See New Zealand from late 90's to a couple of years ago.

What they fail to mention in the article is that 75% of millionaires are bald. (Yes, that stat is made up...)

I think that is a real key. That's what we (my wife and I) try to do. It can be difficult at times, when we see others flaunting their awesome new stuff. We just remind each other that the default behaviour in society these days is to live

I think that's the real message of the article. I don't think it's about the coffee market in NY, or in general - it's about making sure you think and measure before you leap. Starting a business is a huge deal and consumes huge amounts of

I totally agree with you there, dhimes. Today I noticed on my iPhone 3GS that if I hold it in my left hand in certain areas of my house - just like the iPhone 4 "flaw" videos - the signal strength drops from full to only 1 bar. I only notic

Yeah, I'm familiar with that click to run Office 2010. I think that is the start of App-V becoming more prevalent by default in Microsoft's own applications.

I'm really surprised that nobody has mentioned App-V yet. I guess it's because of HN's bias towards developers rather than computing infrastructure types. App-V encapsulates pretty much any Windows application. It prevents it from screwing

I can't see this taking off. But rape in South Africa is very, very bad. It goes hand in hand with AIDS. Anything that would help is worth it. Many of the people that are infected by AIDS go to their witch doctors to seek a cure. There is a

I was really looking forward to iPhone 4, but now after upgrading my 3GS to iOS 4.0 I'm not sure why I would upgrade. It's really that good. Which is great from a longevity point of view, but not from a gadget-lust point of view. I still ha

I'm pretty happy with Hacker News as it is. I think the comments are generally insightful and the few trolls are dealt with swiftly and ruthlessly. Let's face it, we're not Olde English Lords here in polite discussion. People have opinions
