We so badly need decentralized alternatives to these services. Unfortunately I don't see anything on the immediate horizon that is up to the task.

When it comes to things like this, it feels like old "Linux is a cancer" Microsoft is battling the new multi-platform open-source Microsoft for whether the company should be evil or not.

Maybe what we need is an accessibility equivalent to the SSL Server Test. Input your domain and it gives you a letter grade on how accessible your site is. RSS access should be heavily weighted, of course.

Smart Bookmarks were fantastic. Add your favorite sites' RSS feeds to your bookmark toolbar and you'd have all the recent headlines from all your favorite sites at one click. Fortunately I wasn't the only one that appreciated

You may want to check out Social Fixer (socialfixer.com). It's a userscript that manipulates and adds features to Facebook, which is written in React. You may get some ideas from them.

I got caught in the same net. Spent a year as a dev trying to make a career happen, but all I found were a few short term contract gigs. This was in 2018, just after market all time highs. I'm pretty convinced that the demand that the

Unfortunately AFAIK there aren't any decentralized platforms that are ready for mass audiences. Techs like IPFS still have a long way to go before they can be reliably used for Twitter or Facebook-sized amounts of data.

This is a growing problem. I'm not sure what the solution is, but something needs to be done to stem the absolute power that social media companies have to arbitrarily censor voices.
