Really looking forward to seeing how this ends up, especially over the next few years. I knew about their recent Arizona TSMC chips in iPhones, but this is nice to see.

I don't think discord is going anywhere. Not that I like or support them, but the waves of people leaving anything are always overblown. Look at Reddit after the API switch up. The reason my friends and I moved to Discord in late 2015

It would be a bit of work, but if their repo is solid you could just modify that hardcoded value and build the docker image locally. Edit: Just realized they may not have a public repo. If that's the case, then sounds like a way to try

There have been many situations where I'd rather use another language, but Go's tooling is so good that I still end up writing it in Go. So hard to beat the build in testing, linting, and incredible compilation.

I think it's also a benefit in someways though. Preservation should be much easier and more accessible this way. Also maintainability.

Yeah it is now, but it wasn't at the time. I have both Adguard and uBlock Origin Lite installed now. uBlock Origin came out about six months ago (saw on HN): https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=44795825

I can't believe I didn't know about this. I had to track down mediocre extensions to try to replicate UBlock's element blocking. I did find that Adguard was pretty okay, but this looks much nicer.

Oh jeez good call on this. I took a look at the profile and it looks very LLM generated. The phrasing and everything.

There was an interesting part of an episode of The West Wing where some politicians were trying to cut this budget to make room for something else (maybe National Parks?). It was neat to see the arguments on both sides, both for an against

I don't know, it seems pretty light-hearted. If they sent this directly to someone in response to an email, then I may agree, but since it's more of just an opinion blog piece, I find this to be a good outlet for thoughts to share

Actually great point. It's been a bit ruined by spam detection and trust, but definitely still a good decentralized option. > I think we're so used to email we forget how well it works. You're right and that's quite a

True, but I haven't found any good decentralized options for almost anything that don't have enough friction to scare the average user away. I'm talking about decentralized options that are actually decentralized, not "p

I've automated the writing of many of these kinds of things away with LLMs over the last year. I'd recommend giving it a shot. Another tangential use is to ask it to see if there are better abstractions that can be applied that ma
