I own a Kindle Paperwhite (last gen, relative to this new one) and a Kobo Clara BW (purchase in the last 6 months). IMO, the Kindle is the premium e-reader when it comes to look and feel. It's just a fantastic experience. The issue is

This is nit-picky of me but at a 4% safe withdrawal rate (of 1200 that's $48), there's chance that that doesn't last thirty years (a common period for retirement analysis). The issue becomes sequence of returns risk. In early

As a layman outsider, it doesn't seem like it. Anthropic is doing great work (I personally prefer Claude) and now there are so many quality LLMs coming out that I don't know if OpenAI is particularly special anymore. They had a le

This may not be the solution you're looking for, but I've found that I've really liked plain text files with some machine readable parts. One thing I've done is a new line staring with a colon represents metadata, like

Have they? I haven't seen this. They have a lot of tracking protection built in, but no ad blocker. I'm not doubting you, I just haven't seen any action or posts on their part about this.

For personal use, at what point would one recommend using Borg over a regular rsync? I currently use rsync to backup up a set of directories on a drive to another drive and a remote service (rsync.net). It's been working great, but I&#

I've commented about sports betting a bit of HN in the past, but it's such a tricky situation for me. On one hand, this is actively bad for people. You can make the argument that some people win, but the vast majority do not (over
