I'm not sure how the funding formula works exactly, but it seems like the problem is far from fixed. You can look at any public school in a wealthy suburb and it will have lavish amenities and everything a student could want or need. W

Except we aren't just trusting the pharma companies. In the case of COVID vaccines, it is one of the most broadly studied things on the planet at this point. If we had this much money and this many eyes on studying and testing Zantac,

Everytime I see an elaborate "funny" error page, I always thing that I wish they had put that extra effort into a more specific error or not having an error in the first place. But I realize that is not an entirely fair criticism.

There is a lot of stiff (and free) competition when it comes to podcast players. I'm pretty happy with the now open source Pocket Casts. Previously I used the paid Dogg Catcher. I can't imagine what features would need to exist fo

No, I don't think inheritance tax factors in here that much. Wash sale rules don't really apply when using the step up basis loophole.

Its the selective release of the Twitter files given only to select, pre-approved opinion/culture war journalists that concerns me.

I would wager it would affect middle class significantly less as a percentage of their total net worth than the wealthy. Considering that most middle class wealth is in their primary residence and not the stock market. I'm sure closing

Only technically. The overhead to manage this rarely works out for the less than wealthy. Not to mention most non-wealthy people make most of their income as earned income.

Nope.. It IS a free money hack for the wealthy. The stepped up basis happens the day of your death. So when the estate sells assets to cover the liabilities, the profit of the sale will be calculated by subtracting the new stepped up basis

The problem with those super high rates now is that the super wealthy will just move overseas and renounce their citizenship. So you have to get other countries on board, the super wealthy are far too mobile.

Yes, but if you have a $100m tax bill, you would need to donate more than that to offset the taxes. Assuming a 33% tax rate, you would need to put $300m into a foundation to zero out $100m in taxes.

Exactly. Where I grew up, you had to either burn or bury your garbage in your back yard or haul it to a collection point every week. No one wants to put leaky trash bags in the back of their Civic.

I just checked and if I needed to get a sheet of plywood from Home Depot, it would be about $50 for a pickup truck from U-Haul but at least around here, you can't usually leave your car at the rental place, so I would need to enlist so
