Single entry bookkeeping isn't really a thing and isn't really keeping books. It's just an account register or account statement with no totals or anything to check against. Double entry basically just means that for every tr

There is potentially more to it than that since he also had to leverage his stock for part of the purchase price. There will be interest on that, and since the stock price has been rather volatile, there may be margin calls as well.

I think the only thing that saved musk is that he called him a "pedo guy" which is/was slang in south Africa in the 80s meaning just creepy. You usually can't be sued for general opinions. However, I seem to remember tha

The tweets didn't force him to buy, but had he not bought, he would have been in trouble again with the SEC for stock manipulation. Although I'm sure that would have cost him a lot less than $44B so I think it was his pride and ar

What is culturally seen as looking nice may change over the years, but the fact that looking as nice as possible even if casual helps you in the workplace and life never really changed. We have sort of leaned into looking like you aren'

I use frigate and like it. But it did take me a few hours to figure out all the right config file settings for my 3 cameras and then figure out how to configure storage settings and the like. And that's not counting the fact that I alr

I am using Frigate. Simple, open source project. It streams the cameras and can do object and motion detection and only record for specific events (like motion). It allows me to set how long to keep the recordings. For any additional functi

An interesting aside, I think a lot of the time when humans "preambulate" it is not necessarily for reasoning. Many times it is for a very similar reason to why LLMs do it.

Less of a worry than artificial sweeteners and the like, but I think still a concern is that almost all the fruits and vegetables we eat today are "engineered". When I buy a box of blackberries, they are perfectly black, sweet, ju

I'm annoyed that they keep raising the price to pay for a streaming service I barely use. But I still can get most things next day or two days at most. And I very much enjoyed the Lord of the Rings series they did. High production qual

Yes, but my recollection is that the whale fail was usually due to huge growth or unprecedented traffic peaks. I don't think Twitter is growing at a fast rate any longer.

The same could be said for any land. You could grow crops on it or lease it out forever. They have to give you a reasonable price, but it is rarely enough to appease the owners. Which is why they are taking it by force.

It seems like nothing is necessarily wrong with the software itself. Its the opsec surrounding the software. The most secure software in the world can be pwned if you can get access to the lead dev's system or the build system itself.

I think we are all just talking about start and stop delivery trucks. I know the UPS vehicles as well as the USPS vehicles in my area all stop running the engine when they stop and get out.

The lactose tolerance part doesn't really make sense because dairy products are not naturally high in vitamin D. Companies add the vitamin D to milk. Butter is an exception because it is nearly all fat, so it has a lot more vitamin D.

No, it almost certainly has to do with the local postal workers not wanting to put out the effort. If the zip code is there, it will usually be sent to that particular post office first.
