Some really interesting things with this - it looks like a proper rewrite of photoshop, starting it truly from scratch. Given the absence of bit depth and color spaces, it seems like they're heavily focusing on the exploratory/fun

Anecdotally, in the very early days Figma rendered its UI entirely in canvas, but we eventually switched over to React for the UI. It ended up being far easier for development cycles and for accessibility/integration with existing brow

This is essentially what Windows Copilot seems to be attempting to do currently. There's obviously downsides to this approach from a security concern - it doesn't live on device, it's on the cloud. I actually think Apple is i

I use photopea quite a bit for this reason. It's faster to open this in a web browser than it is to boot photoshop. The 1/3rd sidebar ad it loads is... a lot, but I'm amazed that I prefer that to a 30s boot time.

I love how simple it is, but also that it has a cleanup step as well! Such a missed element in many of these.

The "Sci-Fi Past" section is especially worth a read, as it goes beyond starfield. This is something we see a LOT in scifi these days - portrayals of a future that's more Jetsons-y than it is an accurate portrayal of a real f

I was super excited to see this when the Siggraph paper first dropped. For the past decade or so, I've been taking pictures of any room I've lived in from hundreds of angles, with the intention of being able to recreate these in 3

I've personally found AI to be a great help whenever I'm diving into a topic that I'm less familiar with. Recently I used it to help me prep for an interview as well. My partner uses it to help explain STEM concepts that she

+1 to heap size limit speaking as a PM over here at Figma. We regularly see files with hundreds of thousands of layers, and trying to keep those enormous files under 2GB of memory for usage across all supported browsers is a constant strugg

PM over here at Figma - would love to know where you're experiencing lag / where you're seeing useless animations. Overall we're pretty minimal when it comes to animations in product (i.e. here's a quick 22s recordi

Do you have any tricks for conforming to APCA when you need to keep track of font weight, font size, and background vs foreground color while designing/developing UIs? I don't, as for us we set our goal to have a contrast of >6

We use a balance of both. All of our body text is WCAG 2 compliant - we wanted to ensure the primary usability of the app is accessible towards the current standard. Where we diverge is when combining saturated colors with desaturated color

Seems like it's reversed along the Y axis as well? I'm curious what led to that. The nefarious side of my brain say it was a very basic attempt at making the source training data less immediately recognizable in any generated outp
