We follow this model. I like thinking of "develop" as an integration branch, and "master" as an always-deployable gold master. And yep, develop -> master merges are always fast-forward merges.

I wouldn't call DataScript a clone of Datomic. I'd call it a very useful slice of Datomic's functionality, available on the client side. Cloning Datomic as a whole would be a very large task.

If you have multiple people on your team, a common dev environment can be a huge time-saver. New developers can install an identical environment quickly. Another benefit is that your project's development environment is self-contained.
