You guys should probably add explicit (and imo restrictive) licenses to your open source repos. You don't want AWS or other providers to copy your code and offer this as part of their own offerings. Great job btw! Maintenance and suppo

I think Netflix's product is not software but content. I understand what you're referring to but if Prime Video's UX is any indication, content trumps software product quality in this market segment. If I were Netflix I'

I agree with you except the one pain point that Wikipedia still continues to use "m.*" sub-domains for displaying mobile content. I know most people exclusively use mobile these days but I use desktop browsers for reading more tha

Yeah I was afraid my new TV would do that. I was planning to return it if it did because I had bad experience with Vizio and TCL smart TVs breaking updates before (I'm an Apple TV user). I can confirm that Roku firmware works great wit

I use a TCL 6 series and never connected it to the internet. It's pretty dumb. I don't think it can do anything beyond whats possible with the inbuilt Roku software. And it can't dial back home or receive commands because no

I used to be full stack before the re-invention of wheel phenomenon got way out of hand in the js world. Keeping up with what’s going on with the ecosystem and employing the best practices became a huge chore that took time away from solvin

This! Legislating for network infrastructure upgrades and IPv6 adoption will go a long way towards decentralization. The market will produce a bunch of privacy focused “Facebook in a box” kind of products on top of such infrastructure.

I think the goal here is to keep the phone usable for longer than to offer flexibility for tech enthusiasts. Most people who use phones don't even know what an OS is.

Even back in 2019 I was suggesting everybody to read API development design patterns from the Microsoft documentation. It was clean, neutral (not .net focused) and easy to understand. Microsoft under the new management has really turned aro

It’s not about stupidity. Infact it’ll be the people who are proficient with computers but don’t work in tech that will find this fishy and lose trust over the software. Installation and management UX is a core part of any software. It’s th

Most python software use the standard venev setup with pip and requirements.txt, and most java software are distributed as fat jars. Nobody manually sets up dependencies anymore. As a Java/Python/Go developer I can say that packag

This looks like a good improvement but I’m waiting for a Windows equivalent of the M1 MacBook Air (long battery life ultra book with good performance AND backward compatibility for apps). Any in-development products worth following?

You’re not wrong per se but this community is a place to showcase interesting technology and this is one of them. Maybe the author just wanted to build something to practice code or to do something different than GitHub. Innovation (and ev

Unfortunately no. I pretty much just installed and configured my gmail account on all the devices. Only tricky part was my VPS because it didn’t have a GUI. I don’t use magicdns yet since it’s in beta.

My personal use case for tailscale is to connect my home PC, MacBook Air, Raspberry pi, iPhone, iPad and my VPS into a single network without running a VPN server. The best part is that you don’t have to open any ports on your router and it

I’m curious why? Unless your code is doing something which the browser sandbox can’t handle (what could that be?), I’d hypothesize that your app is just another data harvesting app. I know the user data market having worked in adtech for a
