In the grand scheme of things, there is nothing impressive about V8 - it’s just a really good interpreter. Every technology we have today could be easily programmed in pre-1996 languages, they haven’t unlocked anything not possible before

Very naive view. They will be “strongly incentivized” to sign once the company can threaten to pull their listing off and vanish 50% of their customer base. Nothing new here, standard growth playbook.

They only do this ruse for a while, then after controlling a good chunk of the business they “sell” their services officially to the restaurant, including commission. It’s not a charity.

No, part of the problem here is that the big delivery company will always win in SEO.

That “free” advertising is competing with your own channels (without the 30% commission). Also there are uncountable reports of them fucking up the delivery itself by not having appropriate containers, when the restaurant they are dealing d

If that’s the case and they did not consistently fail at food safety practices, just a one-off, then we can consider it an accident like any other and the restaurant is not culpable.

It’s been at least four years since the artificial 300ms for pointer events has been removed.

I don’t get the drama. Coaster brake, shielded chain and automatic transmission are extremely common in the cycle-friendly parts of Europe. Though they are now being quickly replaced by electric.

Are there any drones without a camera? How would you even fly it?

Not my experience at all. All kinds of random people - including HR office clerks, janitors and receptionists, this is no joke - end up sneaking into the product org via personal connections. The bar to become a product manager is incredibl

Apparently the author can’t either. On the other hand, the outcome showed that it doesn’t really matter for this team in particular.

What evidence of foul play have you seen from Apple specifically? The majority of suppliers for eg, Fairphone is also in China, and Apple has the most comprehensive transparency reports and controls of them all.

I had the very opposite reaction. The snobbery of “the only pasta worth eating”, which is an insult to the diversity of Italian cuisine, deflated me right at the start. I know it’s supposed to be funny, but also that there is a hint of self

The sentence quoted is for the first example in the post, not the iPhone timer. That’s most likely what it does indeed, much more elegant than keeping track of the extra 500ms.

The DJI software doesn’t allow take-off at all when inside a no fly zone. All models in the past five years come with a 120m max altitude set, and an absolute 500m limit. There is a huge buffer area around airports [1]. If you’re seeing t

Mobile phones have devoured the camera market. It’s 1/100th of the size it was a decade ago. On the professional DSLR front, they’re having their lunch regularly eaten by Sony, Canon and Fujifilm.
