this will always be true of jailbreaks as they fundamentally break the security of the device. this means that it can be used for cool things like shown in the article but it could also be used maliciously by an attacker to completely take

It seems like you can disable the data being used from training by turning off gemini app activity. > You can turn Gemini Apps Activity off If you don’t want future conversations reviewed or used to improve machine-learning models, turn

maybe this is similar to google's patenting of dropout for neural networks? you can never know but so far there haven't been many adverse effects and they claim that they patent it so others can't maliciously patent and enfor

I think it's mainly the change in behavior that could be viewed as concerning. As a user of a website, if the order of websites you visited after browser startup impacts the success or invalid certificate error I feel like it's a

the entire open source AI space feels like this right now. basically every day there is some new advancement that either makes something deemed impossible achievable and it's actually really hard to keep up with all the changes.

from what I remember bard should be able to browse the internet and write code internally to better answer queries. I feel like these abilities are just improved with Gemini as a better language model.

to be fair, I think the ability of these models to actually use these contexts beyond the standard 8k / 16k tokens is pretty weak. RAG based methods are probably a better option for these ultra long contexts

One small difference is that the GPT architecture is just the decoder stack of the original transformer as opposed to the full encoder decoder stack in the original. I agree the branding play on GPTs in general is pretty smart and strong fr

I feel like history has shown that those who own the platform end up winning and in this case OpenAI's platform of models seems much harder to recreate. My guess is this would lead to Zapier using OpenAI as a platform and eventually Op

This is one of the tradeoffs made to make the outputs safer. One of the ideas floating around is that some of the open source models are better simply because they don't undergo the same alignment / safety tuning as the large mode

Bard is actually pretty good when it responds from my experience. I definitely prefer the way it outputs results much more compared to chatgpt and it does provide sources / a UI linking to relevant material quite often. It is also sear

The main use case is that it's probably the only size consumers can run on their personal devices. If you don't want your data going into an external platform like OpenAI it's the only solution even if it's not very usua

This is a great writeup and intro to certificate transparency overall. Glad to see that certificate authorities are being held accountable and learn more about how its done!

My view is that discoverability is the bigger problem. The larger social media and content platforms are able to surface hundreds of hours of content users want to engage with (often from authors you haven't heard of before). If the fe

I've noticed this on producthunt too; there are lots of accounts which just summarize the post and you can tell they don't really know what the product is / have tried it. But other than that they seem completely legitimate.

I'm pretty impressed with the GCP response, both the fact that they identified the behavior and took the first step in reaching out.

The Roblox outage seemed like a pretty one-off instance due to a hard to catch bug. Consul still seems like a great choice and it looks like Roblox continues to use it at their scale.

It seems that in modern large scale systems networking continues to be one of the few things were a a seemingly small and inconsequential change can cause entire cloud providers and highly redundant systems to go down. It makes sense as net

From a technical perspective, there has been a much larger adoption of diffusion models which make these types of generative art much more viable. There has also been breakthroughs in connecting images and text with models like CLIP. DALLE-
