Nice, I have found EtherPad to be really fast, and if it remains that way I think that's a pretty good advantage.

In the original, the (1/4)^n is more obvious to me, while in the second, the 1/3 part of it is more obvious. But the coloring scheme in the two are different too. The first uses three colors, the second two colors. What if the light gray

What I'm curious about is why they bothered to do the myth busting. What's the motivation to do this? If everyone thinks even the mighty Google can't get YouTube to break even, then no one else will try to compete with them in video, and w

I'm not sure it's a utopia. An increase in longevity coupled with an increase in age at which you have kids would put enormous pressure on government welfare systems. Actually, this is already happening in many places in the world--Europe

Here's an interesting alternative to Hadoop using two HN favorites, Erlang and Python: http://discoproject.org/ Seems simple enough, though I haven't used it myself.

For an article syndicated from a blog, wouldn't it make more sense to use the link from the original article? For one, the domain will show up properly, and for two, you can't comment on the New York Times syndicated version. Last, I didn

Interesting. But what causes such memory in real life may also create a limited ability for abstraction. That capacity for abstraction may or may not be affected by this method of enhancing memory. It may very well be that enhanced memor

I knew of the Site Finder incident, but I am not very familiar with the details. That said, isn't the big difference with OpenDNS that it is opt-in? You don't have to use it if you don't like the advertising component, but they are provid

Haven't been testing out Bing like some of the others out there. Just took a quick look at Bing news search--they incorporate news results with top blogs? That seems interesting to me. Is that unique, anyone know? I don't see it in Goog
