I wasn't trying to sound offensive. Wanted to soft pitch you something easy to hit because I hadn't heard of Fluther before and as long as you're disclaiming, it would be helpful to know what you're about. I'm curious about your use of Goo

Looks like it's 4 million, which is still worth announcing. With more users, I'm curious if paid accounts are growing at the same rate as free accounts. I also pretty much assume that a much higher percentage of all users in the US will be

It's tangent, but I'm interested. Are you alluding to particular events in recent history or kinds of events? Any pointers to reading on this?

Given the historical Western narratives on China (and all other Others), I think we can do a lot better than talking about China as a highly sexualized female seductress with ulterior motives.

Well if you're going to go that route... ... then wouldn't it be cool to be snails? It's still kind of like a slug, plus you solve the rent part by carrying your entire house on your back. Not sure if there are any advantages to being a s

This confuses a minimalist result with a minimalist process. Minimalism doesn't necessarily mean it takes a minimum amount of time to arrive at a good solution. It is an aesthetic ideal for the end product where what can be eliminated is e

Okay, so why not have something that submits "better link and headline" and that can be voted up? Pass a threshold and the original headline and link get swapped out.

I'm not a legal expert, but like others, I don't think they have much of a legal argument. But isn't "your business should be based on making innovative products" exactly what Plurk is complaining about? Although Microsoft was caught lifti

I'm nearsighted and every eye doctor I've had while I was growing up said it's just genetic, and there's nothing you can do about it even though none of my grandparents were nearsighted. But more to the point--there's probably nowhere near

Sounds like relying more on a gas tax would have been the better way to go. Distortionary taxes really need to be careful they are distortionary in the desired way.

Google has become a snake that too readily consumes its own keyword tail What the heck is this supposed to mean? Is it just a catchy title or is there some unintuitive but turns out really appropriate metaphor going on here that I missed?

What is the difference between the reminder and the extinction training? The reminder is the colored square but doesn't include the shock right? And the extinction must use the same colored square or else it wouldn't work right?

I'm sure they will try to do something with the data, but Google's problem these days is that it's been so successful and gotten so big that it's incentivized to basically make the Internet bigger, better, faster in order to continue to gro

I don't know if it's rendering or if it's disk access or what's going on, but I installed the Django docs locally expecting it to be pretty much instantaneous to access. With Chrome, it is. With Firefox there is a very noticeable and ve

I think what's really cool about this is that it looks like a really helpful tool for breaking the boxy, straight-line feel of nested elements and display:block that is normally the natural state of web page design. Props.

Suggest/autocomplete. Well, it's not really enough to call it an API, since it's already just AJAX requests for JSON, but it'd be nice if the format was standardized and they all supported JSONP so that it can be cross-domain.

Cynical, but likely true. But we shouldn't just throw out everything that's in the congressional record. If we have "spam detection for members of congress", we'd usefully know who's doing the saying, and what was said that was at the behes

Right. What works for Hong Kong, Macau, Singapore, the Isle of Man, and other low tax city states just does not work for the rest of the world--it doesn't scale.
