CompuServe was my first experience connecting to the online world. I remember the "free parts" and the "per minute charge" parts. Young me thought that if I stayed in the "per minute charge" areas less than 60

Nobody would train a huge model unless they wanted to use it. So I can understand concerns about training, even if the process of training alone does not produce content inspired by the training materials. People with copyright concerns rig

Why not make these same arguments for cars, food, or anything else that we buy? Just have the government negotiate maximum prices that manufacturers can charge. Maybe AI will help make cars cheaper in the future.

Is there a JavaScript library that does animation using timelines, key frames, etc? It seems like p5js and several other animation libraries focus on things like partial simulations or other animations driven by mathematical formulas rather

This will end up biased by the largest employers. Kind of like crime maps--they make it seems like there's an extraordinary amount of crime concentrated in urban areas, but that is due (in part) because that's where a lot of peopl

Interesting demo. I'd argue that a good tutor will ask more questions than answer. The tutor has to gauge the learner's understanding and adapt instruction. Properly formulating a question can be tricky if you're confused.

Not all null results are created equal. To get your null results published, the null result must shed light on some phenomena. And of course, the study must be sound. E.g., everybody takes for granted that X causes Y, but in a well-designed

It's a complex issue, for sure, and I admit to not being well informed. I did a quick search, and Biden's administration allowed Cubans to open accounts with U.S. banks, but the Cuban government does not like giving up control. Cu

The UN, UK, and EU have no sanctions imposed on Cuba [1]. Why has no other country prevented Cuba from "starving to death?" Honest question. Is the United States so powerful that our trade is the only thing keeping countries alive

I work in academia and look forward to embracing AI tools. Students motivated to learn will do great with it. Others will need AI to really push them to learn, and it's not clear to me how that will work. Many students just want to kno
