Can’t agree more. atuin in particular records the history of each command but also how long they took and is they were successful or not. You never have to rerun a command with long output to know how long it took: just ctrl-r and see.

Perhaps some interlocked piano key switches would be nicer to use. Think of buttons like on a cassette deck where pressing one mechanically disengages the other one [0]. [0]: https://www.amazon.com/uxcell-Interlock-Button-Sw

Good idea! I think browsers should also come with headingMaps [0] and landmarks by default for all websites. With a keyboard shortcut to access them, navigation would be great (assuming websites have a semantic DOM). [0]: https://

Tracing GC and their pauses on server workload is another tradeoff. They all have a tradeoff. You make a fair point.

If this is as fast as the English-only version of Parakeet, then this is gonna displace Whisper entirely!

Interesting phones, but the snark in the live video wasn’t that amazing. Aren’t the products enough in and out of themselves to be attractive? Complaining about Apple walled garden, but only able to pull off their AI help if you are part of

Very similar and works well. It’s a bring your own API key if you want/need. Also with local whisper.

Also, don’t live with a cat (or a dog I presume). I own a robot vacuum mainly because the floor gets hair in just a few hours. It doesn’t alleviate me from cleaning, but it improves the baseline.

Speaking of ghostly, I seem to have issues with using Alt shortcuts in helix running in ghostty on Mac OS. I haven’t taken time to investigate more than activating Alt via the option key in Mac.

nghttp2 is a C lib that can be used for serving as a server in many cases. Rust has the http2 crate. Perhaps it isn’t that easy, but it could be put in common and used a bit everywhere.

The spec looks like a more readable man page (compare to mandoc). Nowadays, a lot of CLI libraries actually generate the help from the code of the cli (like picocli in Java or argparse in python, etc.).

That calculation of density is nice, but since we don’t know what’s inside a black hole, it doesn’t mean anything. Passing the event horizon doesn’t mean you’ve reached the potentially ultra dense singularity, but it does mean you won’t esc

In electronics, I think we'd use a latch, so it switches high, and stays high despite input change. Doesn't really apply to a search box, where it's more of a delayed event if no event during a specific time window, only keep

On Mac OS you can "speak" a text in almost every app, using built in voice (like the Siri voice or some older voices). All offline, and even from the terminal with "say".

It’s part of the answer (the business logic stays as functions as expressed in the article). I’m glad people seem to have left behind the feeling that relational model is bad during the NoSQL era.
