I’m wonderfully surprised by how often people can have an idea and create something as lovely as this in a short amount of time. The web may have its flaws, but it also empowers this.

Just downloaded the game and I love it. Also love that it’s built with Godot. Nice work and congrats!

This is insanely cool. I’d love to see this post getting more love because building a generative art drop is a ton of work. Looks like this cuts out a huge chunk of the work.

I love this. I have used Eleventy, Hugo, Gatsby, and Jekyll. All of them feel like overkill. I want to write my own HTML. I want to write posts (and maybe some simple pages) in markdown. And I want to be able to render a list of posts/

This is really cool. I find myself generating cover images for social media for blog posts and then re-using the image and changing the text overlay often. I’ve done this manually in figma, and I’ve been hesitant to use other solutions beca

I just recently released my first iOS app written in SwiftUI and HackingWithSwift was such a lifesaver. Glad to see others find it as valuable as I did. Great job on this app. My son has ADHD and struggles mightily with repeating tasks each

I remember when I first was considering going full time on my side project. I was convinced that with $200k I’d have enough runway to make it work. I met a VC at a party and even mentioned that plan to him. He laughed (rightfully) in my fac

I recommend to anyone who will listen that they do not get a graduate degree in the arts unless they are financially comfortable to do so. I love writing, but I didn’t get my MFA until I was making enough money to get that degree with the f

Yep. I find it odd that the article doesn’t even mention IPFS. Brewster Khale is a big proponent of IPFS, so that would have been a perfect opportunity to bring it up. IPFS has its flaws, but content addressing and immutability are powerful

I grew up in Tucson, AZ. A grass yard was a foreign concept to me. Everyone had rock landscaping in their front yards and either dirt or rock in the backyard.

If you are chasing RFPs, propose and build everything that checks all the boxes. If you are a product company and building for people who will hopefully love your product, it’s your job to understand the customers, understand the data, and

More than 10 years after quitting smoking, I was standing on a balcony in NYC with a few friends from Italy. They lit up as we drank and talked, and while I didn’t have a true desire to smoke one with them, the thought crossed my mind. What

This is one of my favorite topics. I agree with it all, except that it is possible to have serendipitous moments through distribution on a platform like Medium. My Medium content is now generally only for companies I work for, but I still g

Ghost has some of the best self-hosting documentation out there. I self-hosted for a while but decided I didn’t want to deal with upgrades and wanted to support them as a company. So I’m paying for a manager solution.

I love this process, especially the design portion. A long time ago, I read Sketching With CSS, and I think it took me down a bad path. Lately, I’ve been creating designs for my apps in Figma before writing any code. It’s definitely, as you

This is really smart. It’s sure to be blocked by Apple at some point, but until Apple supports proper web notifications and stops fighting against web standards, workarounds like this need to exist.

Hi HN! Perligo[1] is a passion project of mine that came about as a result of my experience during my master's program in creative writing. Much of the program was held online, so our critiques were all managed on discussion forums. It

This is fantastic. I just learned the basics of Go by building an SDK for a friend’s REST API. I’ll tell you what, you want to learn a language, build a client SDK. You’ll hit so many crazy issues, you’ll be forced to learn how things work.

While I finally bit the bullet and learned redux a couple years ago, I tried for a long time to avoid it. It’s overly complex for the tasks it is often trying to solve. I like this solution because it’s simple, testable, and global.

When I got my masters in creative writing, the program director told us, almost daily, not to expect to make money from our writing. We would not be getting rich. It was a harsh, but realistic view. His point was that we should be writing f

This is 100% the key. I learned to code in my 30s, but I had been trying to learn for a dozen years before that and nothing stuck. Until I had a product I absolutely wanted (or had) to build, it was impossible for me to have the motivation

It’s fascinating to me that the CD didn’t enter my household until the mid-90s. It speaks to exactly what the woman in the video said about cartridges and tapes. I can’t say that I know why it took more than a decade for CDs to become commo
