Use the right tool for the job. Rails and PHP are pretty good options for web development, and JavaScript is a very good option for small client-side scripts. On the other hand, if the job is to create artificial intelligence, then it is Li

Most open-source programmers put their names on their projects. When you are contributing to society, creating something good, or building something, you put your name on it. Just look at how many buildings and things are named after their

You know how I know they are up to no good? Because if they were doing something good they wouldn't be anonymous - they'd want credit for it. Anonymous is nothing more then a group of random people that meet over the internet to do harmful/

They are too decentralized and disorganized to do anything effective. All they really can do is DDoS people's servers and cause temporary inconveniences.

Lisp seems to be optimized for writing code; Python seems to be optimized for reading it. You know what is truly optimized for writing code and not reading it? Mathematical notation - and for good reason, most mathematical equations are w

I am very aware of the differences between Perl 5 and Perl 6. Perl 5 was a tool that was very useful for obfscuated code contests such as this one: http://perl.plover.com/obfuscated/ The new version of Perl, Perl 6, introduces new feature

The difference is that Perl got its good features from non-Lisp hackers that copied Lisp. Python got its good features directly from Lisp hackers. I am quite certain of this because I doubt there are any Lisp hackers out there that would c

My reason for using Perl is to escape from OOP. All of the modern mainstream programming languages, C++, Java, C#, Python, Ruby, JavaScript, etc are all strongly OOP. On the other hand, Perl is very much a procedural langauge. Besides Perl

Your fear is only a result of your use of flawed languages, probably of the Algol family, rather using a flawless language like Lisp.

Programming in a paradigm that your language is not made for is indeed a poor experience. JavaScript is not made for OOP or FP, it is made for prototype-based programming so if you want a good experience that is what you should use. As for

Right now we take JavaScript code and we compile it to ObfuScript (obfuscated JavaScript). It would be much better to have a variety of languages as front-ends and a real assembly language as a back-end.

If you are an expert in world jugglery you can even make Astrology seem true. The trick is to use that fact that English words aren't clearly defined. That way in the future you can clarify what you meant :) For example, Kurzweil said we wo

For small scripts there is no reason to use GWT, however, for large AJAX applications it can be incredibly advantageous. GWT performs comprehensive optimizations - in-lining methods, limiting property access, removing dead code, limiting co
