Washing your hands properly with soap and water is much more effective than hand sanitiser in typical use. Hand sanitiser is most useful when you don't have convenient access to soap and hot water. Since you're arriving home anywa

I had a 3 letter as well. I was getting daily password resets for years and then one day it was stolen despite 2FA and a random 32-char password. No idea how they did it. I wasn't a heavy user and Instagram doesn't seem to offer a

My implication with "rapid audit" was that crates.io would provide a nice code preview, so that people can get the feature that they currently go to GitHub for, while actually viewing the code from the same source they're dep

I'd almost say that publishing from a nonpublic repository (or no repository) is a misfeature. At least when there is no good way to rapidly audit the source of crates on crates.io. Most people will go looking for a public git repo, bu

Most cargo deps aren't specified as Git deps, so there's no repository or commit hash to check. Cargo.lock has a hash of the crate itself; there's no requirement that it even came from a VCS repository. You can publish from a

Yeah, it seems like a small thing, but this immediately put me off the first time I tried out Snikket. All the spacing and sizing just feels janky and out-of-place compared to other iOS apps.

It's great that the transcript exists though. I never would have watched the video (video is my least favourite format for information of any kind) so I would have missed out. More YouTubers should do transcripts!

That's just... not what CVEs are for. It's not a matter of how serious the issue is. CVEs are for distributed software, not for services.

My guess is that they have some separate incentive from Booking.com etc to drive bookings through those platforms. The same places usually have a proudly displayed bullshit "9.9 average on Booking.com" somewhere in the foyer.

No, state refresh is justifiably slow, it's a lot of API calls, which can only be done so quickly, and it can be skipped (with care) if desired. Once you eliminate that with `-refresh=false` most of the time is taken building the graph

I actually tend to agree, and am surprised that the discussion in this post is so breathless. Having used (and continuing to use) multiple Hashicorp products fairly extensively, they tend to have a lot of warts, just fewer warts than the al

As much as the JS ecosystem terrifies me, Node isn't really the problem here. Receiving plugins that contain minified blobs of JS is, practically, quite equivalent to receiving plugins that contain binary blobs. If you accept receiving

P2P multiparty videoconferencing just isn't realistic outside of tech demos. In a call of 20 participants, someone with a typical 720p webcam would be transmitting more than 50Mbit/s, which doesn't sound like a lot when ISPs
