Came to say this. I've never been as immersed in a game before or since. The only problem was the long loading that occurred at spots, especially on my hardware at the time. But their attention to where loading occurred was top notch.

My NAS is in an ATX mid case (Antec 900 that I've had for 15+ years) with a used xeon e3, 32 GB of RAM, and 40TB of storage in a zfs mirror. Running TrueNAS with MinIO, Postgres, and MariaDB in containers. Compute is more sleek. I have

I'm having trouble finding it now, but at one point I used a tool that put monospace fonts head to head (without revealing their name) and you would choose what you thought looked best. Jetbrains mono was my winner and I've been u

Similar experience with mountain biking for me. In college I bought a $600 hardtail because that was my budget. Didn't know or care that it had a coil fork and mechanical disks instead of air fork and hydraulic brakes. And at the time

I run both Plex and Jellyfin on my server. Plex is a little more polished but I don't see how they can sustain a business. Mainly use Plex but Jellyfin is not far behind and good enough if Plex goes belly up.

I use Amcrest cameras with external routing blocked. Integrate nicely over RTSP with my favorite apps and Home Assistant. For Wifi ones, like my doorbell camera, I had to use their app to connect them to Wifi but subsequently block their in

I've been an automation engineer on small dev teams (5-15 devs) and felt like I had tremendous impact. There were a few larger integrations I was generally hired for and then got to tackle pain points I had seen and heard about within

I find both ZigBee and zwave to be rock solid if you have a repeater device near the hub/dongle. You can then make bigger jumps to other devices and the network will be stable. That said, MQTT over WiFi is easy to troubleshoot and won&

The company I work for uses an internal fork of Safe Settings to manage config, could probably be extended to orchestrate deployments. https://github.com/github/safe-settings

I just upgraded compute hardware at home and went with: ASRock Deskmeet X300 (itx case, motherboard, and 500w power supply), Ryzen 5600g, 32 gb ddr4, 512 gb m.2 for around $400. Pretty good bang for the buck.

Most template engines have some form of inheritance making it easy to render just the fragment or include it in a full page based on route.

I do the same with my washer. 100W threshold to know it's running and then has to be below 5W for 3 minutes to be done. ntfy.sh alert is then sent to whoever is home (or just me if nobody is home).

I do this as well but with anonaddy.com which acts more like a proxy than forwarding. The yearly price is low (something like $12) to use your own domain and much lower than paid email plans.

My SATA controller died once in my server so I got to test my disaster recovery (I backup databases and some Docker volumes nightly offsite with Duplicati). Got Vaultwarden and Mariadb back up on a cheap VPS from a database dump in no time.

The high end these days is insane. Huge diminishing returns in performance/watt and performance/cost. My current mid-range gaming PC (Ryzen 5600X, Radeon 6700XT) uses about the same amount of power as my 2008 mid-range PC (Core2 Q
