I don't think spreading misinformation about vaccines is in anyway comparable to the examples of hollywood or the moon landing, and I do in fact think it's a perfect fit for the analogy: It is an indisputable fact that there are p

I think the crux of the issue is that "the cure is worse than the illness" is objectively false, as the vaccine has been proven to be safe, and bodies from COVID deaths continue to pile up. I try not to listen to politicians for t

Good luck explaining to the mob that "there in fact is no fire", as they charge out of the theater. I typically agree with you, and it was justice Louis Brandeis who said it so well: “If there be time to expose through discussion

Why not both? The CCP has strong state censorship on all native platforms. If they allowed Reddit or Google, that would allow their populace to access unmoderated (from their point of view) platforms, which is not acceptable. They allow ex

My favorite way to read Finnegan's Wake is to get some friends and perhaps some drinks, have everyone pick a random spot from the book and read it out loud. The book is a circle so it doesn't really have a proper beginning, and th

I dropped out of school and I almost immediately got tired of low-effort activities. Games and TV are great as a respite from doing other things, but if you're a young person with an active mind you will quickly get bored doing that st

You missed the point of my comment. It's invisible because it _prevents_ bad things from happening, and it results in a boring world. Just one example: I have only had food poisoning maybe one or two times in my time living in the US.

I'm surprised to hear this sentiment, but honestly I think there's a huge amount that the government does that is invisible to most citizens. When I lived in China, I was shocked not by how controlled it was (which is what I expec
