Thanks for sharing, Amy. It's been very educational watching your transition and hearing about your product success. I'm working on a new product and you've been a great motivator! Note to self: Stop using the 7-11 argument with your teena

What we're seeing is the result of Sarah busting out her business with minimal overhead. Virb + Wufoo + Tumblr = She got started on almost nothing (at least as far as her web presence). She's setting a fantastic example and following the "G

Wouldn't the FBI want to get HBGary's copy anyway? Why wouldn't they expect the torrent to be tainted or incomplete?

Whose fault is it if a designer chooses to engage in a contest and they end up spending their time in a losing effort? We all have to compete but rather than disparage a business owner for being a good steward of their money could you inste

To be fair, I didn't clarify a timeline. I'm just curious what HNers think would be the fastest option. Fastest could mean 2 years.

Thanks, Patrick. I meant to exclude consulting. I'm thinking of something that happens in your sleep, like a "safe" investment would. Web apps/niche software are where I would lean as well but that's why I'm asking. I'm hoping the collectiv

Could I live without it? Sure. In that way it's probably a little over the top. As many replies to your comment suggest, the user experience is pretty great. However, in my opinion, OP was probably referring to the awesome performance of V8

What do you do when the answer is, "Nothing"? I find myself in situations that I really really want to change but can't come to a solution that I feel will work for everyone involved (family). My solution is basically to delay action and te

I agree. He's not as SOL as he thinks, in general. I think where the SOLedness comes from is that he has a tax bill that he knows he can't pay right now. It's a scary place to be and probably feels like the end of the world. It's not (yes,

It seems pretty clear by the article that he wasn't doing any of the "business" things like tracking deductions or documentation of any kind. He could probably muster up his hosting and domain name bills but that would be it, and probably t

Great job! Having tried to create my own file sharing service a few years ago, I applaud you for getting out an MVP. It's really easy to keep adding features and never get a product up and running. I'm not sure if you want bug reports yet b

I don't think it will. Jasons's new project isn't just run-of-the-mill WP hosting. It's a cultivated WP environment with a different target than the Windows Live platform, in my opinion.

Not to be totally nitpicky but if they're using any recent version of Rails (I haven't looked at the source yet), the DESTROY action doesn't respond to GET by default. That doesn't change the fact that they don't scope deletes to the logged
