I kind of get this, but what about this use case: I have software that is in production and has been for awhile. I've locked down all the versions of libraries I've used (FFF works here) and everything is running smoothly. However

Have you used Blender since around 2011ish? That was when 2.5x was released, which completely changed the interface. It took me a little while to re-learn it, but it's been much better since then.

So I had heard that women's bikes were designed that way to allow room for riding in a dress. Apparently people still do this: https://letsgorideabike.com/2012/06/04/how-to-bicycling-in-a...

I use the winking with tongue sticking out to mean a joke... but I don't know if everyone else interprets it that way ;) (that was a flirty wink)

I don't think I've heard anyone say you will succeed by following your passion... I've always heard you're more likely to be happy if you do. I think that's an important distinction, especially if you define suc

Unfortunately no :( I don't really have much of anything that I did from back then... and wouldn't have known how to take a screenshot on a C64 anyway.

Boulder Dash was awesome! I had Boulder Dash Construction Kit which I used to make many levels that none of my friends ever wanted to play (They wanted to play NES... so sad)

Nooo! http://brown.bikeshed.org/ has a red background. So today I learned that the standard web "brown" is actually a reddish color.

What's worse is having a boss that's a pushover in one direction. From above, it's always whatever upper management wants, and to his team, it's do it now or you're fired.

You don't want a complete pushover, though, otherwise nothing ever gets done while your team is busy playing video games all week. What you want is a reasonable boss!

Interestingly, as I get older, I find myself asking more questions. Where once I considered myself an "expert" I now feel like I know so very little. I think part of what helped was to get interested in some completely unrelated t

What about buying or coercing votes? Seems like a purely mail-in system would enable both. One benefit of polling places is that it's very difficult (if not impossible) to tell who anyone voted for.

Sands of Time was pretty fun, but it kind of felt too easy (rewinding every mistake). My favorite was the original DOS Prince of Persia, which was one of my favorite games back then!

Yeah, I remember spamming cities seemed to be the only way to get ahead in Civ 1 (and democracy to elimite waste/corruption... ha!). Now I play most Civ 5 games with somewhere around 3-4 cities if I'm not going for a conquest vict

So there is... using the "unsafe" pointers and fixed keyword, etc. The Unity interfaces don't support that, though, so for things like dynamically updating textures and vertex data, you're pretty much stuck with GC.

Yes, and it's a huge pain! We have to pool game object instances, and sometimes even have to attempt to force GC to prevent things from freezing every few seconds.

I feel the same way, and have been playing Civ since about 92. One of the reasons (I think) that Civ 5 is not quite as much fun is the fact that the City no longer really has that sense of individuality. In previous versions, the City was I
