I remember reading somewhere that in practice this failed -- I think there was a programming language where there all possible syntax mapped to a valid program, which meant that true syntax errors were much harder to find.

You can (and should!) read the PKGBUILDs, they're very small and should always be manually inspected before install. The -bin suffix is an AUR convention to let you know that it's downloading a precompiled binary rather than build

Neat video, but it specifically disagrees with your point. He advocates for applying scientific rigor between leaps oc intuition. There's nothing wrong with GP appreciating beauty.

I think we're using the word "maintains" differently. Packages in Sid have no guarantees that they'll work, no security team, and no support system if you get stuck. Sid isn't meant to be used as a daily driver, and

That's correct, although "maintains" is questionable since Debian testing/unstable aren't meant to be used as daily drivers.

I'm not familiar with any evidence of that, but I'd like to point out that Debian unstable has a higher percentage of outdated packages than Arch. Compare "outdated projects percentage": - https://repology.org

Have you tried running Debian unstable (Sid)? If not, I'd suggest you try it before advocating that it's comparable to running Arch. I think the parent comment was silly, but let's not pretend that Sid is a meant to be used a

Two weeks ago I was writing a UI in React. Last week I was writing a Dockerfile. This week I'm building a circuit with a microcontroller. People don't have to hyper-specialize to one specific role.

Productivity has gone up but wages haven't kept up. The owners are rich, sure, but we should be honest about the working class getting the short end of the stick here.
